In the end, I bought a "Lock Ring Pliers" for $18. Spent 20 minutes spreading the ring, stuffed in the couple of small screwdrivers, it came out but bent. $18 well spent. |

I had a h*** of a time with mine. Ended up spreading them with snapring pliers and jamming 2 shims made from pounded flat wire under the ends to keep the ring out of the groove. I would definately try to find one of the pliers Paul is mentioning. |

I got it out with a knife no problem, just worked it around. |

I was able to remove it with a screwdriver with no trouble but a pair of transmission pliers is the correct tool. They look like snapring pliers but have knurled ends like regular pliers but on the outside of the jaws to grip the ring and spread it open. |

What is the best way to remove the "cut out ring" on the input shaft of the transmission ? Snap ring pliers? Any other special tool? |
