I'm having mine repainted, any leaks fixed right now actually, by the same guy that checked out my radiator. I'll tell you how it came out when I get it back. Kind of on this topic, the guy that did my radiator said the thing is one of the best designs he's seen on a road car, should definitely be able to cool any car. It's set up like a big rig style radiator (total overkill for a road car which is good). He also found black goo in the bottom, undoubtably from the old hoses. |

I only repainted mine. That $95 quote sounds reasonable for what will be done. |

Just wondering if anyone here has restored their rusted expansion tanks? If so, what was your angle of repairing this tank? Mine is corroded mostly around the seam that joins the two sections of steel right at the midsection. I just took mine in to a radiator shop that does welding, not just brazing/soldering. They quoted me $95 to take apart and reweld the tank after derusting the entire tank. I will keep you all posted on the results of this small job. The new OEM tanks are hideously expensive---around $305-350. That is ridiculous. FYI---I was quoted $200 to completely fab a new expansion tank from the ground up, two week lead time. Not bad IMO. |
