Wow, You're not kidding about turning ASR off Dave! This baby is fun, but I think I'll take your advise and get used to the car before I do this too much. I think I'm getting about 10 MPG. The 550 is wonderful at turning fuel into noise. Thanks again for the info... Steve |

Steve, the instrument dimmer might have been a lot easier to find if you had read the owner's manual first...:-) Rim shot there--sorry. Regarding the headlight beam, that's the way it is with those focused, elliptical lenses. They ARE weird at night. But the high beams could penetrate a building, I think... The MFD should display "ASR" whenever youhave it OFF. Nothing is displayed when it is on (the default setting). Again, please refer to the manual for exact details. If it doesn't show ASR when you pull the ASR switch, there may be a display problem. As a suggestion, keep the ASR on for street driving for a while; it is really easy to get the back end loose under acceleration w/o the ASR being on. Ask me how I know... Just use the Sport setting if you want a little more wheelspin. As for closing the door: mine is silver, so very little shows, but I close the door by pushing on the outside door handles (which are WAY too low, IMO--the car's one flaw, compared to other Ferrari's opening door handle designs), which are very easy to wipe off, and localize all fingerprints in one location. Don't have a TV option on my 200 model, as Ferrari changed radios to the Becker head thet year. Great choice--enjoy! |

OK, I've had the 550 ('98 7600 miles) for a day now, and I hoping you guys can help me sort out a thing or two. BTW I LOVE this car. 1. After extensive searching last night I found the instrument light dimmer (it was turned all the way down). Question is, the headlight beam has a very jagged, 3 tier stair stepped look. It's kind of wierd at night. Do I just need to get them aligned? 2. The Multi Function Display seems very hard to read in the day and night. Also, when I switch off the ASR there is no reading in the display? Anyone had problems with the MFD? The car is on it's original tires, and they are shot. Quite a bit of road noise, but not too much vibration. I've got a set coming in next week. Should make a big difference. There is no way to open and close the door without getting finger prints all over the place. I swore no more black cars and look, I buy a black 550. It is fun to be stealthy though! I love the radio, as I can actually hear it in this car. What is the TV option all about? |
