Would it be a clutch or a trans alignment problem? Can you skip 2nd and go from 1st to 3rd when the problem happens? From 1st to 2nd is going from the 1/rev shift fork over to the 2/3 shift fork. So if you can skip 2nd and go into 3rd when the problem happens then we could pretty much rule out a trans alignment problem. The alignment is very precise, only a few fractions of a millimeter can make the difference between being able to engage and not, trust me, I spent at least 3 hours aligning my 308QVs to get it perfect (it was a little too far back when in neutral which didn't cause a problem shifting, but it annoyed me, little did I know what I was getting into when I broke those lock nuts loose). |

Occasionally when changing gear from 1st to 2nd gear stick won't go any further than neutral position. transmission remains stuck in 1st gear.i would assume this means clutch is not engaging. This condition remains so,until you stop the car.Leave the car stationary a few seconds select 2nd gear with engine switched off, start engine and move off.All gears then work ok. the fault only applies to 1st gear only and not all the time you drive the car. what is the problem and can it be rectified without dismantling clutch assembly? car is low mileage 20k and clutch is not worn and does not slip in normal and fast driving. My car is a European car, also engine rev limiter does not work. |
