There's a list of 348 service campaigns in the Forza 348 buyer's guide. You can also just call your friendly neighborhood Ferrari dealer, they have all the campaigns or recall documentation, I'm sure. |

Safety recalls are supposed to be carried out any time for the life of the vehicle. We did some on some GM cars that had been recalled 10 years earlier. |

Does anyone know how to find recalls? Does Ferrari keep track of what recalls are done or not done? |

There was a safety recall on my 348 Spyder's belts the dealer fixed for free. If the original owner never did the campaign or recall - this could be a problem for you. |

I have had numerous problems with my motorized belt on both sides of my 348. Usually, its when the connector becomes loose under the seat. I disconnect and reconnect it and the problem becomes solved. Also, there are two door switches. One controls the seat belt. There are times when I use my finger to push and release the switches rapidely. I think the switches are not sealed and become dirty. Dan |

Ben, My friend was dealing with Ferrari of Los Gatos. He thought FNA would take care of it for free also. FLG said that FNA may give the belt hardware for free out of the goodness of their hearts, but free belts were not a guarantee. Labor cost was the car owners responsibility. |

There's a way to disable the motor from engaging. Disconnect the seatbelt light switch from the seat (follow the 2 wires that lead to the seat) and the motor will stop working. Remember to always wear your seatbelt when driving. |

They are supposed to reapir them for next to nothing. My local dealers will repair the TR seatbelts for the price of (IIRC) 5 hours labor per side ONLY. The $2-3k parts kits is free. It's a safety issue folks. There is some federal law that the MFG (FNA?) is resposible for full functioning of all safety devices in cars that are still roadworthy. Can anyone quote the section? Not that I've had any problem with mine, but that what I've been told by the dealers. Or is this just some rumor they told me to get me to stop asking questions about them? -Ben

A friend of mine has an 89 Testarossa, with poorly operating seat belts. The local Ferrari dealer quoted $3K in parts and $2750 in labor to fix both belts. |

Motor mouse seatbelts were just about the dumbest thing our government ever required. They almost kept me from buying a 348 and I don't miss them now that the car and belts are gone. Sooner or later, they die in just about every 348 from what I understand. Since they were a US market item only, Ferrari clearly didn't give them much thought. If you plan to keep the car, I'd get 355 belts if you can. Even if you fix the 348, they are bound to fil again. Dave |

Frank, when I was looking for a 348, I found one at Fox Valley (about 2 years ago) and had it inspected by an authorized F-dealership (can't remember which one). Anyhow, they said the motorized belt on the driver side was not functioning and that it would be about $3k. |

You can replace the motorized belts with non-motorized belts from an older 348 or newer 355. |

Lou, tear the whole system out, put in a set of OMP racing seats and harnesses and be done with it. Just kidding, your red leather is too pretty to warrant that. Look on the bright side, at least you can stare at a beautiful steering wheel instead of an airbag-equipped one. |

Lou, sorry to hear you're having problems. I have had 0 problems on mine. Maybe I got lucky as I know many 348's had this problem. From what I understand, this could cost as much as $3k to fix one of the seat belts. Good luck. Wish I had more to offer. |

Does everyone hate these damn things as much as I do? Mine work on alternating days. I reverted to using the stationary post but the whole system stinks. Are they difficult to repair? Anyone retrofit to newer 355 belts? Please help - I HATE these damn things! |
