Hi Brian, Had the same problem with the climate control unit of my 348 (E8 was the error reading in the display). My local ferrari dealer did not want to repair the damage but exchange the whole unit for 800 Euro. If you look at the electronics of the unit this is just far too much money... So I built out the unit which was very simple and gave it to a friend of mine who is an electrician. He took a look at the unit and simply soldered all connections on the mainboards again with a soldering iron (Nearly all do-it-yourself men have these toys!!!). This operation takes about one hour. Then I built in the unit again and it works perfectly ever since. 90% of all malfunctions of the climate unit are caused by bad connections on the mainboards. My friend checked them with a lens and said that both boards have very poor production quality. They are obviously hand made (hand soldered) and are reaching not the typical industrial quality level. This is the reason why they are malfunctioning so often. Afterwards I spend my friend some beer in our favourite pub. That costed me about 10 Euro so I saved 790 Euro. Not bad I think... Con saluti cordialissimi, Jens |

I have been informed that the climate control unit is no longer available, I have been unable to repair these in the past and replaced them from FNA stock ( at about $800 !). Anyone know of a source for repair, I have two reserved at my other suppliers, but don't really want to stock them. |
