Here is the page out of the parts manual for the motorized seatbelt layout:
and this is the window motor page:
They look more alike in person and seem to work the same general way (12V, reverse polarity for opposite movement, etc.) I can't play with it for about a week, but if anyone has ideas on the relay setup, I'd love to try it. Thanks in advance! |

Patrick, This is a very interesting idea/concept. Not sure what I can do to add to the thread tho....I know that the 348 mountings are completely different. But really who would have guessed the seatbelt system would be similiar to the window motor system, go figure lol. -Ben |

Patrick -- I don't actually have a copy of the booklet (and I'm hoping I'll never need one!). I copied that jpeg from an ebay auction some time ago just to have the information. In the upper corner I think it says: Electrolux Autoliv which I would guess is the vendor's name (like Marelli, Bosch, etc.) who actually made the system for Ferrari. I don't know of any specific sources but you can always ask the usual F literature players (www.ferraribooks.com, www.ferrariliterature.com, etc.) or maybe run a wanted ad in the FML -- even if you can't get a real copy if someone Xeroxed their's that would probably be good enough -- good luck... |

Steve- Where did you get that book? I can't quite read what it says in the upper left corner - it doesn't look like standard Ferrari issue. Is it available or was that a dealer only item (and if so, what are the chances of getting a copy?) Thanks in advance! |

Patrick -- the documentation for the TR mousebelts is only labeled for TRs (not 348s), but I'd have to think that the principle of operation would the same (even if the hardware/trim are a bit different)

Do the 348's use the same system as the TR's? Anyone have insight on this? |

With the thread about 348 motorized belts bouncing around, I started to wonder what options exist (short of $3K in parts for a crappy system) for the motorized seatbelt dilemna. Since motorized seatbelts (MS from here on out) were only for the USA market, I looked up the seatbelt system that was put in the Euro-spec TRs - they had a standard 3 point harness: Do the USA cars have the same attachment points as the Euros so that it would be an easy retrofit? Is the lap belt buckle at the tunnel the same as for the Euro belts or does that have to change as well. Do the USA cars with the MS system have to keep the MSs to be legal? As an alternative to replacing the system, does anyone have a wiring diagram for the MS circuits? Mine havent worked in quite a while so I figured I would take the cover trim pieces off yesterday to see how it worked it looked remarkably like the window motor system with a cable coming out of the track with 5 or 6 wires, 2 wires going to the sensor switch at the front, and black and red wires going to the motor. Using my handy multimeter, I was able to identify the wires going to the rear position sensor also. I remembered from the power window thread from several months ago that the motors werent getting a full 12V, I tried hooking 12V directly to the motor to see what would happen the mouse came to life, and with great vigor! Reversing the polarity reversed the direction of travel maybe the problem isnt the track and motor but the wiring getting to it (like the windows). So, here are the options 1)switch to Euro belts if it is a fairly straight-forward swap or 2) design a system of relays like the window fix to power the belts using 12V, front and back limit switches, and the open door signal.. I am assuming that the electrical connections at the take-up reels in the tunnel could be eliminated since the belts work fine with everything disconnected. Any suggestions?
