I seriously doubt those power increase figures. For an Idea of how your car will react to a performance air filter, simply remove your existing air filter and drive around the block without it. Other than the sound difference, I doubt if you can feel any power increase.

I keep hearing about these K&N air filters and how you can pick up @12hp. Is this really true? What's the magic of it all? Do they really breathe that much better. Someone please enlighten me.

Thanks,
LUCH

My K&N didn't automatically fit all the way down into the correct position in the air box. As a matter of fact, I damaged my first K&N by just sitting it in and cranking down on the screws. The rubber lip around the filter broke off. I called K&N and told them what happened and they were nice enough to send me out a new one. This time I pressed the edges down into the box, which is a tight fit, and only snugged up the screws. I checked it a few days ago and all seems well.

Anyhow, I'm probably the only person to tear up an air filter, but I thought I'd share my experience.

Unscrew the airbox top, slide the old one out, slide the new one in, reattach air box top.

Simplest maintenance possible on the 308...

I didn't find too much info in the owners manual for changing out the air filter on my 85 308QV. Can I simply open up the airbox and swap it out? Are there any other things that need/should be addressed at the same time?
TIA
