I change my coolant every year just before I store the car for the winter. That way there's maximum anti-corrosion protection while the car is sitting up. I drain the system using the engine valve & the flush fitting I put in the heater hose that T's into the larger aluminum tube under the front access panel. By measuring the drained coolant, I determined that I drain out about 3/4 or more of the coolant this way. Because I change the coolant so often, I don't bother with flushing the system. The additives in hatever residual coolant that isn't drained still have plenty of life. Oh, yes, make sure you add DISTILLED WATER. It makes an enormous difference. I never bothered with it until I worked on my Ferrari the 1st time & realized that the engine & cooling system had no mineral deposits whatsoever after 20 years!!!! Now I use it in all my cars. BTW, a basement dehumidifier is a great source of distilled water. Just run it thru a paint filter or rag or something to remove any dust or other debris that might have been collected. |

S.Long Im not sure i would let a Quik-Change lube place like them service my Volvo. Perhaps a competent mechanic for other cars you have that u trust would be the way to go. |

Has anyone gone to a non-dealer to flush and fill their Ferrari's coolant...are the "mechanics" at local chain repair shop (Penzoil, Midaz, etc) capable to do this correctly, or are the hoses too complicated for them to do correctly? |
