The problem is mixing different refrigerents. You can use freeze 12 but make sure from now on that's all you use. You can go from R12 to 134a with no adverse side effects or oil problems. Freeze 12 is a blend. You will have trouble if you go to freeze 12 then back to r12 or 134a.

R-12 is still available. It is expensive because it is no longer made..I get a tank at wholesale around $900.00. We have several in stock from our former R-12 customers who have converted(large tonnage a/c equipment). So it's been bought and paid for. I use it at will.Thats why I fill peole up cheap. |

Hey Bruno where are you getting the R12.$100 is a deal for a fill up. I just converted my wife's 89 Volvo to 134A. Blew the condensor so I put in a new one and put down my $25 for the conversion kit and it sup and running and temp at the ducts is 40 degrees.I did my 308 last year and its still cold. By the way they wanted $145 for the condensor , $100 to install it and $200 for the recharge (2.4 lbs.) I stopped using R12 and have about 20 lbs left in the tank. Guess I should sell it for a bundle. I hear that a 30 lb. tank is going for $750-800 here in NY. |

I've used Duracool for 6 years in my old Mercedes. It has been used for 4 years in my Porsche. It is my understanding that you can mix them with R-12 (I did). The propane molecule is larger than the R-12 molecule so the R-12 will eventually all leak out leaving only the hydrocarbon. It only takes about 60% as much by weight. |

Freeze 12 is compatible with R 12 and works very well. I have used it in R 12 systems a number of times. No problem. |

It isn't a 308 that this would be used on. Thanks. |

If the car is a 308 it only holds 2.2.lbs of r-12. From empty. You should be able to go to an auto a/c shop and get topped off relatively cheap.I do friends/family etc for-top off for $50.00.$100.00 from empty.$125.00 with evac. $150.00 With flourescent dye added.

Yes but don't There has been a lot of info in trade magazines about mixing different refrigerents. R12 is still available and is a better choice. Don't mix. We have successfully exchanged r12 to r134a. It is easy to do. A COMPETEMT a/c repair shop should be able to advise you. It maybe a f-car but its not a ferrari a/c unit.

I know that it is compatible with R12 oil and hoses etc. Is it compatible with R12? Can I just add a can to a car with R12 in it? Any info would be appreciated. I called Johnson Co. and they said that it could and many do it but EPA didn't approve of the mixing. |
