Henry, 20 years with a BB...Well, let's just say you get to know them pretty well. If you run into parts, service or component rebuilding issues, drop me a note. Likely, I've been there before... Regards, David |

Henry, More than likely, the noise your hearing is the Digiplex ignition unit...which is semi-centrally located behind you in the engine compartment. On my BB, this was quiet noticeable, and depending on your hearing tonal range, can be annoying. The noise I would describe as a high-pitched whine, which is normal, but seemed to vary unit to unit... Due to questionable reliablility issues, and overall fair performance, I converted my BB to an MSD unit many years ago...without any problems. David |

Fuel pump would be my guess. Another thing that I had causing noise was the right rad fan. For whatever reason, the noise sounded like it was behind me. Probably because of the tube chassis transmitting the noise. |

Whenever I have the ignition in the ON position, I get a REAL high pitch noise comming from my engine compartment. It sounds like it right below the rear window somewhere, its kind of hard to pinpoint. The noise is constant, and pretty loud. I can hear it while I'm driving the car as well with the engine on, AND when its off. I'm guessing it could be the alternator(s), and if it is, I'm not sure if its normal. Has anybody ever experienced this? Any input? Thanks |
