I added a battery tender to mine so I would not have to try and jump it or pull if it was drained. Learned from a bad experience on a rainy morning in Northern CA. Most local shops have them or you can pick them up at Griots.

Thanks Parkerfe. FYI battery in 88 Mondial: burried in Front trunk on passenger side right by f/r wheel splash panel. Like someone else said they built the whole car around it !

Its a piece of cake to do in the 348 spider and later 348 tb,ts,GTB,and GTS that has the battery in the driver's side front fender wheel. I don't know about the earlier 348 or Mondials which I understand had the battery in the engine compartmant.

I assume same procedure for 88 Mondial ? On a scale of 1-10 (1 piece of cake -10 forgetaboutit !) how difficult is it for a week-end warrior like me ?

I concur with using an Optima battery. As my cars/motorcycle/golf cart needs batteries I am replacing them with Optimas.

I'd recommend replacing with an Optima which is made and distributed by interstate. About the same price, but a much better battery.

It's really not that hard to replace. Just jack the front driver's corner, take off your wheel, remove the splash panel from inside the wheel well with a phillips head screwdriver, and you have the battery there. Replace it with an Interstate brand. I think it's an MT34. Should cost about $130.

Christopher:

Frank is right about the location, you have to remove the wheel to get to the battery. There are posts in the engine compartment however, and you can charge the battery from those posts. They are on the right rear of the engine compartment, both a ground and the hot lead. If the batter is indeed dead, I suggest a dealer for replacement, given the shitty location for the battery.

Yes on the 355 there are booster terminals on the RHS of the engine compartment, under the side cover.

Just out of curiosity, do the 355s have remote terminals in the engine bay? I remember helping a guy who's 355 died one night at like 12am and I could have sworn there were terminals back there even though the battery was in the front.

Its behind the splash panel in the drivers side front fender well. You have to remove the drivers side front tire and the inner splash panel to get to it. I suggest you add a trickle charger to the battery and run the wire up into the front bonnet so you can keep it charged in the future.

355s have them up in front of the passenger's side wheel well I think, maybe take a peak up there and see if you can get a look at it. I'm not sure though so don't rip apart half the car looking there.

I cannot find the battery in my 1994 Ferrari 348 Spider. Can anyone help me? I have looked in the engine compartment and in the luggage compartment (as well as behind the seats). I cannot find it anywhere and its dead as a doornail. HELP!!!!!!
