Doug, be careful not to completely remove the front of the housing on the L/F heater box. It's a bear to get back on. Also since you are going to go into the boxes, you can email, me under my profile, and I will give you all the scoop on the filters and where to get them. I did mine and learned that it ain't a cake walk. MAGOO |

It's pretty simple to look at. Remove your spare tire and then the fiberglass base. Under the base there is a box on each side with a foam filter in it. Chances are that it has never been removed and has disinigrated like mine had. Could be the reason for debris blowing through the vents. The owners manual give a good diagram of the whole system and location. |

A mouse might have gotten into the heating/ventilating system of my '85 308 during winter storage. Noticed some debris out of the vents when the blower was turned on and now there is a bad smell coming from the system. Wonder if the critter died in there. The system seems to be working OK otherwise. Is the system hard to disassemble and inspect or is this something that should be left to the mechanic? I am somewhat handy and do routine maintenance (yearly oil/brake fluid/coolant changes) but am somewhat nervous about tearing apart an entire system. Has anyone else had to deal with this problem? Any imput would be greatly appreciated. |
