Sorry that did not work for you Mitchell, it was a wild shot in the dark and thought it might work for you. That link for international auto from Gerrit is interesting. For only around $30, you can remove those valve springs with that attachment. The tool would pay for itself in one afternoon of spring removal. You can't go wrong there. |

Good idea, but I made one and it does not work. THe springs are so stiff there is not enough weight on my upper body to compress them. There needs to be a leverage like a c-clamp. I guess I will need to find an adapter. |

GT4Don, Thats it. PVC!!! I was looking for an easy tough material to make throw away tools forever, never thought of PVC ( I was useing steel, tough to machine.) and the scheldule 80 size will have a thick side wall = be strong, and easy to machine. Thanks. |

Hi, There is an add-on you can use with a C type spring compressor. Take a look at http://www.international-auto.com/pdf_files/Tools.pdf |

Try to measure the distance of the diameter valve spring with a caliper. It looks to be around 1/2" to 3/4". You will need two PVC pipes to make yourself a homemade valve compressor. See this link here on how this was done on a Toyota Supra 4 valve engine. http://www.supras.com/sogi/techtips/1_engine/1019_MKIII_repair_valve_seals/index.html |

I wanted to disassemble the heads myself so I rented a C-clamp type spring compressor but it did not fit the Ferrari heads. What type of spring compressor / adapter do I need to do this very simple job?
