Whoa, 45 pounds per bumper? I can save 90 lbs if I went to fiberglass? Does that mod do anything to change the geometrics of the car?? For instance, will the car have more front end lightness at high speeds?? Or will it just make a nice difference?

Magoo,

When using a Euro bumper the grill needs to be larger.

Mitchel,
Weight savings is 45lbs per bumper.

I think Nick does have fiberglass bumpers that he sells. I would also be interested in learning how to bring the bumpers in....but also I think I am interested in the fiberglass units as they must be 100 pounds lighter.

Paul, Isn't this the one you altered the grille in order to accomodate the fiberglass bumper? Nick Scianna was going to make Euro type fiberglass bumpers has anyone heard where he is with that?

My father's 308 has the same mod done with the added feature of his bumpers painted red to match the car. It looks awesome.

I simply drilled the shocks. This is a VERY simple mod and not for everyone. My car, although in great shape, is not concourse. I have a few things that are removed. This said, I was not concerned about the drilled shock. These shocks are 20+ years old and have lost there effectiveness. two of mine had no gas at all. I plan on posting (next weekend)a full proceedure w/ pics for thoes that are interested.

Jerry,

Looks good. How did you do this? Did you get euro bumpers, or did you collapse the shocks?

I'm contemplating changing to euro-esque fiberglass bumpers, in the mean time though I think I'm gonna do this. Looks really good to me.

I don't know if the tips are stock or not. They were on the car when I bought it. They look (upon close inspection)to be original or at least well fit/finish add ons. The age patina is consistant with the rest of the exhast conponents.

I have noticed that in the showroom section there are at least 2 non Euro cars that have this same mod to them. I rally love the way it balanced the look.

Jerry, Looks good. Are those the orig exhaust tips? They appear that they protrude more than the origs. would. Also the angle of the cut seems sharper on the tips.

Ok Guys, here is the picture of the bumper after the modification. It came in about 3" on the front and 3 1/2 on the rear. This made a huge difference in the overall look of the car.Upload
