The throw-out bearing that I got from melaniaone does replace the original exactly, despite its apparent different diameter as I switched the bearing over to the sleeve fitting the other day. I will install the clutch this weekend and I believe it will work. As for the pilot bearing you are right that melaniaone does not supply the pilot bearing. I got a "better than stock" pilot bearing from Nick at Forza motors. I thought about not replacing it but am glad I did as the original pilot bearing felt grainy when I spun it by hand, much different than the new one from Nick. Good luck clutch changers. Don

Thanks....the winning bid was 275.00 and you are right he also gave the pilot bearing....which I HIGHLY recommend on replacing when you replace the clutch. I made a little hook for my slide hammer and popped it out with several slides...a cheapie tool that works great.

I agree with the others who have dealt with George Evans. He has been very helpful and honest. I bought one of his clutch kits and just put it in last Friday. No problems.

my advice is to ONLY deal with George Evans on these parts. He knows the differences and is very honest. Will spend time with you on the phone. Robert Davis: you did nothing wrong. You did not know at the time. No biggie.

The other problems w/that $285 clutch is that it does not come w/the $40 pilot bearing - The clutch from George Evans, Evans Automotive has the pilot bearing w/it for $300. Unfortunatly I learned the hard way, but my buddy got one from George - he is a great and helpful guy. I second the recommendation for him. I will use him from now on.

Guys...I believe I made a cardinal mistake here...........I deserve banishment. I ordered a clutch off melaniaone...for some reason he was unable to sell me one till he recieved his new order...I think he was selling Borg&Beck at the time. So I ended up bidding on mine from gevans (George Evans). He deserves the credit not melaniaone. It is a Valeo...which is what melaniaone has now and is the same as mine. I bought my window motors from him instead of the clutch. Sorry for misinfo....but I had to come clean.....

Don't have any problems with mine I bought back in September. Not defending the guy to be right or wrong, but I would buy from him again. My clutch is a Valeo and works correctly...check the old one that came out and it was a Borg&Beck it worked good until it wore out. By the way melaniaone has 419 positives and 5 negatives...not too shabby for a ebay seller.....I guess unless you are one of the 5...........

Hello i`m Elena and i what you to inform you of a problem

Steve is the one that i just found out the Problem with the clutch he
purchase the clutch kit from me in November
the Problem is with the Clutch disk is to tick is a 10.5mm it should be
9.00 mm or not more of 9.5mm ( some how it got mixt up in Coustom in New
York City ) any how To use this Clutch kit you will need a 1mm spacer from
the mounting surface of the pressure plate so it will give 1mm of room to the
Clutch
With out the Spacer in this particolar case the clutch will feel like is all
ready engage ( Again Becouse the disk is to tick )

I have the correct clutch on is way here from Italy
thay will live Italy Today or Tomorrow

Sorry everyone, I had a long night in the garage working on my gt4 and forgot about retrieving the pics and also the long conversation I had with one fellow ebay'r over this issue. There is alot more to this story and I'll post it all here, hopefully by late tonight. Sorry for the delay. :-(

Don, my bearing also looked a little different, but was the correct one. Remember the bearing mates with the pressure plate surface so it should match that. The bearing will easily slide off the mount, I took mine to my buddies shop and with little effort it slid off with his press. I do not know how your original pressure plate was, but the one he gives you has a spacer on top of the fingers. My original did not have this. From what I understand this is suppose to be the upgraded 328 clutch plate, which is to ease in pedal effort (which it does mine is a little less harder to push down). I think you will be pleased with the final result. I must have been lucky..I think I ordered mine on Monday and had it by Friday of the same week.

I bought the clutch kit from melaniaone and am in the process of installing it. I did have to wait two weeks as the clutch disc he/she shipped me was too thick. I sent the too thick clutch disc back and just got the disk that is supposed to be correct. The pressure plate is indeed a "valeo" unit. The throwout bearing supplied with the kit looks different than the original one on my 1979 GTS but I can not quite tell if this is a problem as I have not yet gotten the bracket sleeve pressed off the old throwout bearing. Joe at melaniaone says that this is the correct bearing and I guess I will find out tomorrow. I will let you know when I find out. JOe has been very good to work with and very apologetic about the wrong clutch disc and says the problem was due to a customs inspector opening boxes and repacking them incorrectly resulting in several people (including me) getting the wrong thickness discs. Joe said that we could install the thicker disc by installing 1mm spacers between the pressure plate and the flywheel but I did not opt for that as I wanted the right disc. I will keep you posted as I get this thing back together. Don

be careful that you purchase a valeo unit. Not Borg and Beck. There is a 2.5mm difference in pressure plate thickness that has caused around 20 EBAYERS to ask for their money back due to this problem. I can post some pics of the differences tonight. Some have told me that the Borg and Beck units do not even fit the 328's.

For all you chat members.....on ebay there is clutch kits including disc, pressure plate and bearing. The bidding price is 275.00, but has a buy it now for 285.00. This is the person I bought mine from. His ebay name is melanieone. He is very prompt with shipment and the clutch is a very nice piece. The clutch is a 328 style and will give much improvement to less pedal effort on the 308's. If you are looking for a clutch this is a great deal........good luck and happy bidding
