If you fill from the drop-gear side, fill very slowly until the you see the oil begin to flow from the fill hole of the main (larger) gearbox. If you fill the small reservoir too fast and plug the main gearbox as soon as you see fluid running out, you will have too much fluid in the system. It takes some time for the heavy-bodied oil to seep from the drop-gear side to the main gearbox. Imagine a lock-system used to move ships through a canal. Best of luck.

The side cover with the 3 drop down gears has a seperate drain plug. It shares the fluid through transfer ports in the bellhousing. If you filled the gearbox through the side cover, it fills everything at once. If you didnt, the oil will already have made its way over there and mixed with the small amount left over. No big deal and no harm done.

I changed out the main transfer case and was not aware of the small reservoir inside the drivers rear wheel. Does it share its .17 liters of oil with the main transfer case? If i were to drain the oil from the small reservoir, would it also drain from the main case?

If you look at your owners manual, I believe it states 4 liters for the main transfer case and .17 liters for the small reservoir inside the drivers rear wheel.

By the way, if you get about 4 to 5 feet of 3/4" OD tubing, that is just the perfect diameter for the fill hole. Insert the tube in the fill hole and snake the tube up through the engine bay and refill. Super easy.

I saw the description on how to change the transfer case oil at the Ferrari Online Service Manual site. Does anyone know exactly how much oil should be pur back into the transfer case. I drained a qty of 4, one liter bottles into mine. Is that enough?
