I didn't want to imply that all 308 roll bars are 18mm dia (it just happens that they both were/are on my ex-'78 308GTS). My foggy recollection is that some year/version carbed 308s have a smaller diameter rear roll bar (11mm? or maybe 13mm?), and I have no idea what's used on the later injected cars -- bottom line is to measure each before ordering so you can match up the bore size of the bushings. |

If I'm not mistaken, an '84 GTS (.71")has different size bars than a GTB(.38"). I could be wrong though. |

Verell -- no problem with the fits on my ex-'78 (the small and large sizes substitute well IMO for the stock fronts and rears, respectively). The only difference is that the aftermarket brackets have mounting slots (rather than holes) to fit more applications so it is important when installing them to make sure that the roll bar remains centered between the mounting studs when tightening the nuts. |

How well did the large & small brackets fit? Were they fairly close to the size of the orig. brackets?

I've also used the 11/16" Prothane bushings from JCW (red, no graphite impregnation) on 18mm roll bars with good results (but I went with the smaller version on the fronts, larger version on the rears). |

Vernell, I got out the calipers and measured the front and back sway bars. Both were 11.65/16, which I assume means you need an 11/16 bushing. I ordered mine from JC Whitney, part #85ZX9777B which is the large bracket style and uses a poly bushing. |

I'd like to know the Part # for the poly sway bar bushings also. BTW, are they graphite impregnated? (Probably not if they're white). I'll be rebuilding my suspension this winter. Have bushings from the F*list group buy this spring, but need sway bar support & end bushings. Also would like to get poly bushings for the steering rack. |

Donny, I would measure them. it should not be hard right tool. Let me know I can let you us mine. We can measure it next Saturday if yawl can come. Mine are cracked but they are not coming apart. When they come apart, that's when I will replace them. Please note our new section here for Louisianna. Take care Kelly |

I want to change out the sway bar bushings on my 84 308. I searched the site and found that the JC Whitney polyurethanes seems to be a popular replacement, but nowhere could I find the size of the bar. Does anyone know what size I need to order for the front and rear without me having to jack up the car and get out the calipers (don't feel like getting dirty tonight). Also on the JC Whitney site they have a large and small bracket type. If anyone has bought these which brackets did you use? As always, thanks! |
