Seems to be a common thing. My Daytona overhaul set had a bunch of O-rings too. Spent one afternoon sorting them by size and then comparing to the old ones for application. I too had some left over. |

I had quite a few left over after my rebuild. They probably use the same gasket set for a bunch of variations. Mine runs ok and nothing is falling out so I guess it's OK. |

On the QV, I can think of these: 4 on the cam seal rings 4 on the bolts of the camshaft pulleys 1 small one under the front timing cover 2 behind the clutch bell housing 1 behind the water pump 2 on the shift shaft

Sounds good. I've been trying to find them in the parts catalogue but haven't seen them too much. I guess I'll just put in what came out. If there is some obvious thing when putting it back together then I'll pay attention to it and double check. |

Wellll, I suspect you'll find that some of the o-rings go around studs & bolts to seal the ones that pass thru oil or coolant passageways. It may be that your car was built before they decided to use them(just a SWAG). Don't take my word too seriously tho, I haven't torn a 308 engine down(& hope it's a long time before I have to...). |

The kit may be for more than one application? |

So I got my gasket set a couple weeks ago (everything works in week intervals cause I only get to come home every second weekend or so). There are a slew (for lack of a better word) of black o-rings in it. I know the obvious ones for the cams, but what about all these like 1/32" rubber seals in all different diameters from ~3/8" to ~6"? I haven't found that many black o-rings pulling it apart to this stage (heads off, block separated, diff and passenger cover of block are only things still together). Should I have? |
