Chris , As much as I would like to agree with you I think you will see it again. You could have a rich problem on that bank or maybe a cat gone bad or just a malfunction of the circuit. |

I did not have the problem at all today. The car has seen very little use since last April (maybe 200 miles total.) I wonder if the cats just needed to be blown out? Maybe sitting for a long time caused the problem and driving it more is helping clear it out? |

Accessible from the top or bottom? I'm guessing bottom? When you say don't disconnect, I'm assuming you mean don't leave one of them disconnected, it's ok to disconnect to switch while engine is off. |

The bad cat is a RESULT of a problem not the cause. The modules are white, approx 1"x2"x4" with a metal braid covered wire going down to the catalytic convertor, I think they are on the drivers side of the engine bay in the 348 if I recall (havent had one in in two months). |

Brian: How do I do that? What are the modules? What do they look like? I would like to try this, but I need a little more details to figure out how to do it. Chuck: That other thread was very helpful. I guess I am not the first one to have this problem with a 348. Since the engine is cutting off on me It seems like it might be the cat? I dunno. All the things people have been doing to correct it seem easy and I would rather do it myself rather than taking it to the dealer if possible. Thanks for everyone's help! Any other suggestions would be appreciated!

There were several threads on this subject last year. Here is a link to one of them: http://server.ferrarichat.com/~ferrari/ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/112/3464.html |

Or it could be the Cat itself. The Cats Ferrari uses often go bad. I had the one on my 328 go bad as well as both of them on my TR. That is why I went ahead and replaced them with the Cat bypass pipes. |

The Motronic system counts the # and duration of signals, which will eventually shut down if ignored, rather than meltdown. It could be a faulty sensor (most likely), check by switching the 1-4 module with the 5-8. Then switch the probes if necessary. Do not disconnect! |

Sensor at Cats is indicating overheating. Seemingly a feature on most Ferraris. It will blink slow then faster and then shut down that bank on the engine until it "cools". I would check the O2 sensors first and then move to electronics etc... |

I have a 348 Spider and tonight the engine died on me for no reason while slowing down for a stop light. It started right up after that. I went to dinner then I started it up and after a few minutes of driving a light saying Slow Down 5/8 came on blinking. When I stopped and restarted it didn't come back on at first, then after about 20 seconds it came back on. I drove it for about 5 minutes then stopped. I got back in it a few hours later and drove it for about 25 minutes and it never came on. Any ideas? |
