Nick can get OEM exhaust ECUs for the 348, Ferrari part number 142581, referred to as a "Centralina" (Control Station) in the parts manual. He quoted me around $279, which was a better price than any other source.

Thank guys I'll ask him about the ECU. As far as the connections I think my mechanic checked out that stuff also, but will ask him again. Oh by the way what does a new ECU run?

Sounds to me like the ECU as well. I have had the samething happen in my car and replaced the faulty ECU. Also just to be sure if you have had all those items above replaced check all connections to make sure they are properly connected to the electrical system. Some times a loose wire from a O2 sensor, or other part plays with the ECU in a bad way by sending bad data.

Ernie:

Has your mechanic checked to see if the Electronic Control Unit is functioning properly? It sounds like you ECU has a intermittant problem and should be replaced. Is it a stock unit, or modified?

I have a 1990 348. The car runs fine if I keep the rpm's under 2k/rpm, about 45-50 mph. I have to short shift it at about 2k/rpm and not the normal 3k/rpm. I can drive around town fine so long as I don't get on it too hard. When I try to accelerate hard, a bunch of popping from the exhaust and power loss is felt. I do get off of it when that happens. On the freeway the slow 1/4 light came on and I got off the freway. I know it is related to the cats. The car has new O2 sensors, mass air flow, and two brand new Cat's. I also had the alternator rebuilt recently, and the alt has been checked and is performing properly. My mechanic thinks it was a secondary ignition problem but when he checked the om's on the wires all was fine. Anyone with any ideas?
