I used the front bumper from AFE but this needs a little bit of work to fit on the car. I have cut the bumper under the turn signals for having more space for the fog lights. I have used CAD for drawing the grill like these on the euro cars and send the data to a laser cutter. Then i have assembled the sheets and it looks very nice. I have all of the OEM US parts and the car can bring back to the original design in a few hours. If i have some photos i will post these. Dirk |

The only thing I was wondering about such a change is where do you get a euro grille and how much money. How does it look with the US grille and euro bumper? I just dont want a big honkin gap at the top of my existing grille after the clunky bumper is replaced. |

I'll try to post a few pics tonight. I'm sure I can track down a shot of the slimmer Euro bumper. Thanks for the comments. |

The 5 mph bumpers are not for personal saftey. They were federaly mandiated to protect the body work only. In heavy collisions, the front crumple zones protect the passengers. The bumper shocks can be removed and solid brackets can be fabricated. Then if you want to go back to the original look, they can be swapped out. John |

Im considering getting a euro front bumper and grille for the look as well. The only down side to either route is little or no front end protection as far a the body goes. The glass euro will give 0 protection which could be costly in a minor parking lot bump. As far as safety goes, I would be more concerned about an accident at 130mph where the bumper will do nothing. It depends on whether you want a euro or US bumper wrappad around your head. |

I was wondering what you fellow 308 owners feel about converting US bumpers into the smaller Euro bumper look. At a recent FCA gathering, I saw a variety of 308's that had drilled out their bumper shocks to retract their bumpers into the car. I must say that the difference quite noticible. I suppose my biggest issue is safety. 5mph bumpers are not much, but better than a rigid bumper! So what do you think? I prefer to keep the car original, so this is a real stretch, but as I said, the cars I saw with the conversion were extremely nice! |
