Finally got my 79 308 running good!!!! In the past I could get it to idle good, then midrange would be terrible. Full throttle was always very good. A good portion of the problem was the alternator, at idle it put out 13.1v, at 3500 that jumped to 18.9v. Hard to get steady fuel flow when the fuel pump would vary in speed because of the voltage change. Got the alternator rebuilt, reset float level the Haynes weber book I went by for rebuild specs had 50/58.5, all others had 48/58.5. Reset at 48/58.5 checked all carb settings reset mixture, runs better than it ever has. Starts easier no bog down coming out of turns and sounds 1000% better.
