I just finished a complete restore on my 308 wheels. Here is what I did. 1. Soda blast wheels. 2. Sand them until your fingers have no finger prints. 3. Coat with 3 coats of a PPG epoxy sealer.4. Coat with 3 coats of PPG primer. 5. light sand with 600 wet dry paper. 6. 3 coats of PPG Delstar DAR 32498 color. (Marlin Silver is the name of the color.).7. Light sand with 600 wet dry paper.8. 3 coats PPG clear coat. The people at PPG can match the epoxy, primer, and clear coat the the DAR color. I have very limited experence with painting, but I was very pleased with how the wheels came out. One step I forgot was to fill any dents or scratches with an epoxy filler( bondo)I took pictures and will try to post them. 1st is before work. 2nd is after soda blasting, 3rd is complete. |

Several of us have had (I think) positive experience with: Keystone Automotive getting a set of 4 refinished for $400~$500 -- might be worth a search/call. |

It seems to me that someone indicated in a previous thread that a Mercedes wheel paint was the proper color match for our wheels. I can't seem to find the reference though. Does anyone recall what the proper paint is? |

Being in the UK I can't help with a reference, but I'd say from experience that it'd be well worth getting all four professionally refinished rather than try and touch up. On wheels anything that's less than perfect really glares at you |

I have some chips on the the wheels on my 308 that I'd like to tough up. Anyone know a paint source to match the original color? Also one of the wheels has been curbed, about 2"x2" area. I think it's beyond touch up paint, so I was also looking for a repair shop reference. Will the shop have to refinish all 4 for the paint to match? |
