I had the tank out of my 328 in order to do timing belt. I had to remove hoses at top - some required replacing because they had hardened so much. Mine had a tank drain at bottom - cu crush seal - and rubber section to connect metal pieces. Assembly is held together with radiator hose type clamps. I had to remove rear wheel rotor and tilt tank to get it between wheel spindle and fender. Put your tongue on your second from last molar, upper right to do this. Mine has two straps with bolts on the end that secures tank to vehicle. They had to be removed as well. Deep socket might be needed here. Don't let caliper hang by its hose. |

Greg, where are you getting the rotary compressor? Does it bolt right up? |

Refer to the post below relating to '80 308 GTSi A/C leak. Some of your questions may be answered there. I'm about to finish up the task of replacing hoses. Good Luck!!! Roger B. |

I would think removing the tank is necessary because the lines make some pretty curvy turns behind the tank. Plus, you will need to remove the cover behind the tank, and any other brackets holding the lines in place. When you are done, you will need to rivet everything back in place. |

I am about to change all of the lines on my A/C system on my 308. What is the best way to loosen the tank? Can the tank be loosened or does it need to be removed to change the lines? I planned on using a small rope tied to the other end and running it through with the old hose to aid in bringing the new hose through. I am switching to a rotary style compressor too so where would be the best place to put the service ports to add freon? (up near the condenser?) Any other info would be appreciated. |
