While we are on the subject,
does anyone know of a good anodizer they might recommend?

The powder coating shop I use has flat black (0% gloss) all the way to full gloss (100%) and every step in-between, in 20% increments. 60% gloss black is very similar to the coolant tank (when new). I don't know that I've ever seen an unrestored exhuast heat shield, but I think it's more flat, like 40% or 20%. Also, they all have sample cards, so you can pick what you think looks best (or most correct).

I had them do it in a semi-gloss finish...
I'm not sure about matching the Ferrari red color, but they did have other colors that they offered.

I had mine blasted and powder coated to the tune of $35.00
I tried painting it several times before with less than steller results.

I sand blasted mine and painted it with POR-15 black paint.

Powder coating is the best solution, IMHO.

John,

I used a flat black high heat paint with good results. I first used a semi gloss and it just didn't look right, the flat looked much better. The key is the prep. make sure it's sanded and very clean!

I am wondering what do most Ferrari owners use to paint black rear shield.
