I have to tap the oil pressure and fuel gauges on my car too! What is it, an air pocket or something? I'm used to it now and it makes for another fun ritual when starting the car.

Sounds like a great business opportunity. Someone invent a gauge tapper that actuates with the ignition switch. My Daytona's gas gauge has been like this years. Start car, tap gauge and it works fine for the rest of the trip.

Must be a gage thing because I have to tap mine also every time I start it and it works just fine.Wierd.

On my gt4 the first thing the PO showed me was to tap the oil gauge after starting or it will not move until the car gets warmed up. Once you tap it once lightly it workes great till next start up.

You ever see those old movies of WWII and fighter pilots when starting up those bombers on the tarmac, switching switches, tapping gauges...

...First thing that came to mind

peter! once again i've overlooked the simple things. when i first flip the key on but not start the car the guage seems to be stuck in the far left corner. one little tap moves it just slightly so it sitsd just in line with the light. needle comes up to dead center almost imediately after ingition but even with hard acceleration it won't budge. i'll focus on the gauge first as it makes sense.

And what about when driving hard, then stopping for a light, does the gauge move then (it should drop)?

Maybe the gauge needle is sticking, have you tried tapping the face-glass with your finger (I'm serious)?

87 328 gauge and pressure were fine when i bought the car, low at idle and raised on acceleration. recently pressure at the dash guage just stopped coming up. it sat fine at idle without the warning light coming on, just failed to move. I blindly replaced main sending unit without confirming with a mechanical guage. now the pressure even after warm up sits dead smack in the middle of the guage, i believe 85 psi and will not move even under acceleration. any thoughts before i do further testing. i'm also looking for a good mechanical pressure guage with an adapter to fit these cars. any suggestions will be met with an extraordinary thank you.
