Not being as skilled as David (or anybody) had the local electronic shop (rec by local Ferrari dealer) hard wire the V1 into the battery by running the wire under the headliner with just enough wire being visible to plug in the jack.
Vi is clipped onto the sunvisor.Works great and can use the V1 in other cars.

I looked seriously at the ultrasmith setup. Couldn't bring myself to pay the bill since I have had luck with my setup.

So this is how I have wired each of my TCabs. (And basically how I did each of my other vehicles - assume V1 with Stealth kit, I have three of the same setups.)

I mounted the power takeoff kit behind the center console - velcro'd to back of access panel in passenger footwell for the T. Power taken from live wire there.

I then run a short cable to the top of my steering rack (flat area in front of instrument panel) where I have velcro'd stealth display.

I run another cable behind dash and up A pillar (passenger side). This required removing the pillar cover as well as the sun visor. The cable comes out just short of center of the car.

I mount the V1 behind the rearview mirror and below the sun shading (factory). Important not to hang V1 in any sort of windshield tinting, electronic defosting or other non-clear areas, this is a known range killer. The only portion of the detector seen from behind is the rear receiver which is on the front right of the V1 unit - it looks like the mirror to most folks.

net result? Mute and display are part of dash display area on steering rack, most of unit is hidden behind mirror - fairly stealth. The only change to this setup is on our Jag which has the benefits of an automatic "out of my way" steering wheel. In this case, I have mounted the stealth display to dash just above maximum height of steering movement.

I have been a V1 owner since it was first release...89-90? 3 convertibles and about 6 other vehciles, never had one stolen nor had issues with people taking them out while parked. (Partly Seattle, folks tend to mind their own business here, mostly luck.)

I too am going to do this soon, I think I will DIY. Shouldn't be too hard on a 308, 360 though might be different. The price of a detector is nowhere near the price of a ticket (insurance, etc) so well worth it.

I would like to get a Valentine 1 for my 360 Spider. How do you install it in a "stealth" configuration? How do you hard-wire it in so no cord dangles around. Is this a DIY job or let a pro do it?
