HAVE YOU TRIED CHARGING THE BATTERY?
(You've probably already done this but just in case...)
After you've cleaned all the usual contacts, put a 10A - 15Acharger on the battery for 12 hrs or so. (Or a 1A or 2A charger for 3-4 days...)

If that doesn't bring the voltage up then you've got a dead battery fer shure.

If it brings the voltage up & the car starts, then start worrying about the alternator & connections between the alternator & the battery...

Good luck,

QV's have a huge battery disconnect plug that sits right on top of the inside left fender. I agree with steve, clean every connection witha wire brush, esp the ground strap from the engine to the chassis that sits right near the starter ( this solved a very similar problem that I had , just like yours but I have to keep cleaning that conenction!). I also took apart my ignition switcha nd cleaned all the contacts -- this really made a difference -- remember these cars are now 20 years old and there is alot of oxidation in these electrical connections and many parts are approaching their usable life span. Finally buy a new optima battery (pep boys) or interstate battery if you want to stay OEM...you will be glad you did and the wiring and electrics in these British cars (ooops. sorry slip) -- Itailian cars you need all the amperage you can get.

Mike -- If your battery is more than a few years old I think you could replace it with no regrets, but it sounds like you should try cleaning all of the primary battery connections -- battery posts, negative strap -to- chassis, etc. (I don't know if QVs have a built-in cutoff switch or a big fusable link somewhere, but the headlights not working is a clear sign that you've got something wacky besides a possible bad solenoid/starter).

The headlights and horn are not working. Over the last week, it seemed like the starting power was decreasing until one morning, it didn't start. Again, the voltage reading on the battery posts was 11.4 v. There is some sound from horn but typical of a dead battery. I have no idea how old the battery is.
Thanks

Mike -- I don't have anything specific, but you might give some more detail about your problem. Do you mean:

1. it cranks, but doesn't fire, or
2. the starter solenoid engages, but the stater motor doesn't crank, or
3. the starter solenoid sounds like it's trying to engage but doesn't, or
4. the dash lights up in the key "on", but nothing more when you move to the key "start" position.
5. no dash lights when "on",
etc....
How do the headlights look when on (engine off)?

I just tried to start my 308 and the battery is not starting it. I checked the output at the battery and it was 11.54v. Could this just be a bad connection somewhere? Please help with any advice.
Thanks
Mike
