Just to note if you damage your door pins, let me know. I also had the problem with my door pins. I actualy made my own door pins out of a stainless steel, and made them about .002" bigger so it has a nice fit with no door wiggle. If you need some I can send you a few if you like. I made mine with grease fittings so I can lube them now and then. I did my door pins about 1.5 years ago, and just recently removed my door again with no problems. |

Know what you mean...but I have it down pat. The most important thing is to hold the hinge in place (since it has a lot of wiggle). I use a small vice grip to hold it still, where it pulls out another 1/2 in. or so. Close the door almost shut (right before hinge meets) and get a screwdriver shaft or similar part ready when it comes together. It was trail & error there for a while but tenacity was the key for me. Robert, I brought up this same question about 10 months ago. These pins are a booger to remove. Short of liquid nitrogen, a big brass drift and an even bigger hammer (with the door properly supported), I could only get one pin out. I ended up shimming the door hinge mounts the rest of the way to get rid of the little bit of sag that was left. Good luck! Mike |
