I finally found a place in the UK to supply these tyres at about 90 per tyre in a place which operates out of the Beaulieu Motor Museum. They were very helpful and I recommend giving them a call if you need classic car tyres. They specialise in hard to find tyres in unusual sizes. Service was excellent - the guy I dealt with was an enthusiastic Westfield owner, and he worked really hard to make sure I got the tyres when I needed them. They have a website at: http://www.vintage-tyres.com |

Thanks to all for your help. Still no luck yet, but have a couple of people trying to source them for me. Richard I've been offered the Michelins as an alternative, but would of course need 4 rather than 2. I'm going with the P4000 because that's what is on the car right now, the rears havce worn right down but thr fronts are as new, so I'd rather just match the rears to the fronts. I'm pretty happy with the way the car drives on the Pirelli's, grip seems pretty good, and they don't really make any noise cornering on my car (maybe I don't push it enough....)

Robert, You can probably get the VR-rated P4000 SuperTourings. Check Pirelli's website at: http://www.pirelli.com/ Barry

Commonly available in the US but don't know about UK. You might try calling Mike Elliot at Superformance in Essex (I believe the number is 020-8500-7127) and ask him where he goes for tires for his customers since he is a Dino specialist and these are the stock size for some Dinos. I have the P4000 in 205 70R 14 on my fiat dino coupe and they last forever but are a bit noisy when cornering at speed: they start to whine way before the traction will reach its limit and kick the rear out. A friend has them in slightly lower profile on his Fiat Spider and they whine too. However, I suspect your 308GT4 is better balanced and perhaps you have rebuilt your suspension so maybe you won't experience this noise like I do on my car. I might just have to shell out the big bucks for the old-mold, new-compound vintage Michelins next time around. |

I need to get some Pirelli P4000's in the UK, size 205, 70 R 14. Anyone know where I can get a couple of these as the tyre places I'm calling can't help. |
