Richard, You might try Topend, they have Weber parts. http://www.racetep.com/weber.html BTW, your website is great and that engine looks fantastic. |

Richard, when looking for a new top for your 40 DCNF, be sure to check which one you have... they come in 4 and 5 bolt tops. |

Try Marcovicci - Wenz engineering on L.I. PH: (631) 467-9040 e-mail: [email protected] These guys are some of the premiere engine builders in the country. They have been an engine rebuilder to ferrari on some of their racing programs. They are great folks and very helpful. |

Thanks guys. So far Pierce is having to enquire with Weber about availability of a top. I have received one e-mail I will follow up on and if not I'll try VW (though I thought they mostly used IDFs, no?) or other Ferrari parts places. And next time, fiber washers it is! One of these days I will just buy a set of new 42DCNF from superformance. The cost isn't that high and since I have the big valves and high compression pistons already and plan for the cams...might as well get bigger carbs. It would be nice to start with new carbs for once in my life! |

Hi Richard 40DCNF's are also used on Maserati and as aftermarket on VW's. Aftermarket VW places might be an affordable alternative for a top. |

Richard, It's likely you could obtain a replacement cover from one of the usual Fcar parts suppliers. From time to time, DCNF's become available on ebay. Currently there is a pair of 40DCNF12's listed on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1845917709 |

Richard: I use the fiber washers - no prob with them sealing. As for the carb top, try Superformance in England - I know they have whole carbs and some parts. In the US, Pierce Manifolds is the distributor and may have it, but I think the Ferrari model is somewhat specific and Pierce may only have a generic top. I get all my gaskets, jets, etc. from Pierce. |

I snapped the fuel inlet neck part off the carb top while trying to take off the fuel lines. They have to be quite tight to prevent leaking and the metal on that neck of the carb is quite thin so apparently this happens somewhat often. I don't think it is the threads of the fitting that are sticking, but simply the copper washers kind of bonding with the metal on the carb top and the fuel fitting after they sit compressed through many months of heat cycles. Anyone using a fiber washer with success instead of the copper? Have any of you converted to metal lines and fittings similar to Earl's? That would be nice if I could find some that weren't that blue anodized color - something a bit more low key would be appropriate. If you have, please let me know how you did it and if anyone has a 40 DCNF 12 carb top lying around I could use one (would even buy a whole carb if you want since it's nice to have spare parts). Thanks in advance... |
