Had an oil lean, and the lower oil cooler line was rubbing against the frame, until it finally burst....sheeeesh what a mess...anyway, was lucky to get the hose for 400 including ups red. Suggest you check the lower oil hose, and if rubbing against the frame, fix it. |

Magoo, I went through that exact procedure so hopefully my problem is solved. I'm glad you explained about the holes being drilled just barely into the oil cavity...now it makes sense to me. Thanks, Jerry. |

Jerry, I had the problem on my 79 308 GTS. The holes are drilled just to where they barely penetrate the oil box. Oil seeps over a period of time and also internal pressure can affect itwhen the engine is running. I removed my bolts cleaned the threads in the hole and the bolt with brake clean. Then I installed Permatex No. 2 on the threads and into the hole. Haven't had a problem since. |

Going back to the archive thread regarding an oil leak that is originating from the motor mounts...I am in the process of this procedure because I've got oil leaking from this area as well. Can someone please explain how there is no oil coming out when I remove these bolts? My car is level on 4 ramps. I just don't get it. Why do these studs presumably go all the way into some kind of oil cavity? Thanks, Jerry. |
