Jerry...I'll be sending mine off to Complete Interior in Chamblee, GA. They're located not very far from the FAF dealership outside of Atlanta. Dr. Tommy Cosgrove (fellow F-chatter) recommended them. I'm sending you an email now with the contact numbers, etc. |

Eric I too have a cut in the leather on my binnacle. Where are you sending yours off to be recovered? |

Thank you Ric for sharing your experiences with this. I'll take your advice (and Magoo's too) and access via the instrument cluster. |

Accessing the four nuts that hold the pod in place is *MUCH* easier with the instruments themselves removed. The nuts are very small (8mm) and are hard to see or get to from the floorboard. |

Going to be sending my dash instrument binnacle (the small shroud / pod that houses the gauges on top of the dash) off to have it recovered due to a small cut along the leading edge by the previous owner. Tried using upholstery adhesive, etc. to repair it, but didn't like the results. Anyhow, I seem to recall reading somewhere that the binnacle can be removed by simply removing four nuts from underneath the dash. I tried laying upside down and looking up through the bottom of the dash, but all I saw was a mass of wiring looms, etc. but no visible nuts / bolts. Has anyone successfully removed their binnacle using this procedure? In the archives, I read where Magoo recommended a procedure whereby the 4 warning lamps, instrument cluster, wiring harness connectors were removed in order to access these same 4 nuts. Would this be the better alternative? Thought I'd ask some of the experienced owners before this turns out to be a big project -- thanks in advance! |
