Don't use the 3M 77. That's what I used on mine and everything is coming loose. 2 coats, let it dry, looked great, 3 months later everything is coming off. maybe the 90? |

The 3M heavy duty spray is great especially for under vinyl on hard surface installations. The spray is much better then brushing because lumps and uneven surfaces will occur under thin applications such as vinyl on a rear shelf or dashboard. |

I put new carpeting in my Alfa Spyder using the method Bruno described and it worked great. |

Go to a Catapillar heavy equimpment dealer and buy the Cat brand of contact cement. Best I've ever used. Bar none. |

The problem with contact cements is that people don't use them properly. The key is to apply evenly and with porous material two or more coats may be needed. More importantly is to let them dry thourghly (i.e. alow the vehicle solvent to dissapate so only the adhesive remains...at least 20 min. and keep clean.) Then adhesion will be permanent. Make sure to rub throughly with good pressure. DAP & Weldbond are very good products, the same as industrial. Good luck, LUCH |

I did my new interior with contact cement.Be sure to apply to both peices and let air dry so when you touch it with your finger none comes off on your finger. Then join peices together. It worked great on the carpets in 308. |

I have never had any luck with stuff bought over the counter. I found a local professional trim shop and they sold me a gallon of their "pro" contact cement. I dont know the brand and it came from a 55 gallon drum they had, but it is AMAZING. Things stick, and they NEVER come off. I brushed it on. You may want to see if a local shop will sell you some of their pro stuff. Like pesticides, I think the stuff the pros buy is on a different league from what they sell at the hardware store etc. |

OK. In the TR, some of the carpet pieces along the rear firewall are glued in place, and the edges of some of the leather pieces are glued down. Ferrari appears to have used a brushed-on contact cement. Any opinions on what would be the best (and most convenient) adhesive to use would be? I was going to get a can of 3M Headliner Adhesive, but maybe there are other ideas. Also, if you have a favorite product, where did you buy it? I read that DAP makes a high temp contact cement. Where can I find DAP producs? Their website is currently screwed up.
