I just put the repro. wheels from superformance on my car. I went with S-03s 225/50 front and 245/45 rear. Everything looks right, there are no clearence problems and no spacers to deal with. About $2,200 all done.

Hmm,
If I use FerrariPartsExchange prices I come up with roughly:
$360 - Spacer set
$600 - 20 Lug bolts @$30
----
$960

$700 - 4 wheels
----
$1560

That's almost exactly the current exchange rate price for a set of Superfoormance 16" wheels.

Superformance wants $15.60 each for 308 lug bolts, so I guess that could save about $300. Except, wouldn't I need bolts 44mm longer than stock?

ie: I'm assuming that the lug bolts go thru the wheel/spacer sandwich & into the original hub holes.

This is beginning to look like a deal - NOT...

I was hoping to come in under $800 for the wheels, & maybe another $500 more or less for tires. Guess I'm just pipe-dreaming.

Thanx for the responses. Unless someone shows me how to adapt the 328 convex wheels for $200 or less I'm going to have to keep looking.

Verell -- I'm with Dave H. on this one -- the total cost to get the 328 ABS wheels and spacers + special lug bolts (or adapter + bolts) will probably be about the same (if you don't include your extra time hassle) as the 16" reproduction QV wheels from SF. With a difference of 44mm in offset you might be better off with an adapter (i.e., something that gets bolted to the hub and then the wheel gets bolted to the adapter with the standard lug bolts) rather than a fat spacer + special long lug bolts. I seem to recall that the (30mm?) 348 rear wheel spacers/adapters had similar issues so maybe those suppliers could help if you decide to pursue mounting the 328 ABS wheels on your 308. At $700 for the set I'd buy them anyway (that's a great price IMO), and I think they may be more easily adapted to the Mondials (which have similar large "+" offsets) so could be resold.

verell, not sure this helps but I think from a dealer (new) bolts are around $65-$75 a piece. Go to www.ferraripartsexchange.com click on wheels and then find the wheel accessory page and they have bolts for $30, and some adapter info. Also I've found bolts (generic) that are the right thread pitch and diameter and can be ordered at like NAPA but they are a little too short (for the 308) but perhaps they are long enough for the adapters you need?

ANY HELP SOMEONE CAN GIVE ME TODAY WOULD BE APPRECIATED. I HAVE TO GIVE THE SELLER AN ANSWER THIS AFTERNOON OR THEY'LL GO TO ANOTHER BUYER.

Dave,
The reason I'm thinking about 16" wheel is I want to mount some good sticky high performance tires for autocrossing & mild tracking. I figure whatever wheels I get for this could get a bit banged around in use/hauling.

I've got the authentic original 390 TRX wheels for a hypothetical pureist buyer.
Besides, I'm well attached to the car & have a lot of personal time invested in getting it where I want it. It's unlikely that I'll be selling it until I'm too old/decrepit to either maintain or drive it safely. I expect we'll age more or less gracefully for at least the next 20 years or so.

Verell,
I would recommend waiting, save a few more dollars and get the reproduction QV wheels from Superformance. They just look more "correct" to the car. It will help resale as well, were you ever to part with your car.

Just IMHO.... I'll shut up now.... :-)

What would it take to mount a set of 328 convex (aka ABS) wheels on a '82 308 GTS QV.

I've an opportunity to pick up the 16" 328 wheels at $700 or so. It's a fairly low price, BUT I am not sure that they'll still be a bargain after adapting them to my 308.

I've also never delt with adapting wheel offsets to match the vehicle's offsets. How well does this work in practice?

Based on searching the list, Here's what I think I'd need:

44 mm offset spacers (55mm 328 convex offset - 11mm 308 offset) Did I get the 328 convex offset right?

4 sets of extra long lug bolts.

Anything else?

How much is this going to come to?

$???/spacer x 4

$???/Extended length lug bolt x 20

I suspect the extended length lug bolts are
going ot be the gotcha. Where would I go to find such a thing, or have them fabricated??
