Reiner: I got kinda lucky too. After a drive home, it unlocked. The cable and everything else look fine, nothing broken. But it did lock on me again - so this time I figured out that by bumping the outside of the door with my body while lifting up on the handle will do the trick. I must also have a loose allen screw - do I have to take the door panel completely to get to the screw? |

Hey Julian, I had this problem on my 348. It was due to a loose allen screw which held the frame lock stud in place. When this screw gets loose, the door will no longer unlock. I was lucky, after a long drive it kinda wiggled itself into a position where i could open it again.. Then, I just applied some thread lock to the bolts and re-tightened them... good luck!

You should be able to take the external fins on the door off. The are held on by a couple of allen screws. Good Luck...Ciao |

I'm very tempted to use the Fonzy move with my elbow to see if it would open - because it has opened before: last weekend, I couldn't open the door so I made my buddy climb in. Then when we got to his house, he lifted the door handle and it just opened. When I got home, the door was stuck again I'm going to give it a bang with my shoulder, otherwise it's going to be a B*tch to remove the panel with the door shut. |

Happened to me on the drivers side. I crawled into the drivers seat from the passengers side with a slipped disc in my back and Im 193 cm (76) Anyhow, I couldnt open the door from inside either but on my way to the shop, when I was angry enough, I lifted the lever and gave the door a sever hit with my left elbow and the door opened. Try that before you do anything else. Ciao Peter

I agree with Frank...now the question is how in the hell do you get inside the door without being able to open it? Any clues Frank? The door is easy to take apart if you are able to get it open....I looked at mine tonight and cant figure out a way to get it apart easily with the door shut. Ya I got the alternator fixed once I finally cross referenced the part with about 1000 other alternators. I've been lusting after some more power lately now too and am going to send my ECU boxes to a superchips tuner in Chicago to get a customer program programmed into them. I also bought a 71 Porsche 914 that I am going to AutoCross coming up this year and take up to Brainerd Raceway here in Minnesota. Its a sweet car, very gocart like....except I have it in 4000 pieces in my garage right now. Ohh if I only knew where everything goes! :P I look tomorrow when I get more time and attempt to take my door off without opening the door and let you know what I find. Later man! |

Dan, no poping sound and I don't think it's the pin since I can pull up on it and everything feels intact. The strange thing is when I pull up on my driver side door handle about 2/3 way up, I can feel the door handle disengaging the door. But on the passenger side, I don't feel anything when I lift up on the handle. I think the only way to find out is to remove the door panel - kinda tight doing it with the door stuck closed. |

Julian, Was the door making a poping sound when you opened or closed it before it became stuck? The reason I asked is because there are pins that connect the hinges. These pins can fall out when worn. I've also had to replace the passanger door lock assembly. Dan |

No I haven't tried the chip yet. I was in the process of adding wheel spacers and test pipes but I got the itch of getting another toy so... got me a 300ZX TT and have been busy adding performance stuff to it. My 348 speedometer is now intermittenly not working so I'm thinking the speed sensing unit is next! Did you ever get your alternator fixed? |

Dude I wish I could help you but I have no idea....sounds to me like you broke part of the lock mechanism off inside the door...and I cant think of a way to get the door apart without being able to open the door. When I get home tonight I will see what I can figure out. Did you ever get your chips for your car yet my man? I havent had the time to do anything fun with mine lately but should be getting them soon. If you tried the Audi places chips let me know how they worked. |

My passenger door is just stuck in the locked position. The motorized lock/unlock is working but the door won't open! Even when I use the key to unlock or manually pulling up on the pin mechanism. Has anyone had a similar experience? |
