Great. We love those outcomes. Good thing to keep in mind to check if we find that happening to us. Michael PS; One thing about the bubbles in the coolant. Some small ones are fine -- it is the big ones that may signal a blockage. |

I agree with Michael. I had the same problem in my TR last year after they did a major service. It was running hotter than usual so I figured air was trapped. THere are two pipes where you have to blled it in front of the engine bay towards the flanks. If I remember correctly I first opened the cap and with the engine cool just opened the bleeders. I kept filling the tank until it started to drip out of them. Then I ran the engine and bled them again after the engine fans kicked on and with the engine running. I was surprised to see how much air was in the system. Mty car never even reaches the half way mark now in traffic or not. |

HI MIKE THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY 1- YES THE COOLANT IS GREEN 2- YES I SEE BUBBLES WHEN CAP IS TAKEN OFF.. I THINK WE WILL JUST BLEED THE SYSTEM, ADD 30% ANTIFREEZE TO 70% WATER MIXTURE, AND HOPEFULLY TAKE OUT ALL EXCESS AIR, BEFORE THE NEXT SCENERIO.."THE WATER PUMP" THANKS AS ALWAYS FOR YOUR HELP... Bruce, I assume you are using in 5th gear on the highway and cruising around 3,000 or less rpms as the oil temp at the first bar or less (about 175). If you are certain the gauge is working properly, then I would bleed the coolant system first. Just because it was flushed 6 months ago, doesn't mean it did not get air in somewhere. That's where I would begin. I would start the car (make sure its or just warm) and open the coolant cap. You should see movement of the the fluid. There might be a few little bubbles, but not much. If you do not see much movement of the fluid then the coolant is not flowing as well -- same if you see lots of big of bubbles. If you see some movement of the fluid and all looks normal then there is the one thing that you should check -- your water pump could be getting weak and it is not pumping coolant as strongly. Start with the simple coolant bleed first. By the way, what color is your coolant -- in the TR is should be green. You are not hurting the engine running at 210 so I would bleed coolant first and drive a bit. Could just be air and make sure you have the proper coolant. The hotter and more humid it gets the more imporatnt this is. Hope this helps. Michael |

OK HERES MY STORY UP TILL ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO, HERE IN NJ, THE TEMP ALSO REACHING MID 90s, MY TRs water temp has always BEEN AT ABOUT 195 IN ANY STOP-GO CONDITION, EVEN WITH THE A/C ON AND 90 DEGREE TEMPS.. LATELY IT HAS BEEN REACHING 30-40 MPH DRIVING TEMPS(NO STOP-GO)AT ABOUT 210-215, WHILE IDLING TEMPS AT 220 OR SO.. I HAVE CHECKED: THE 2 FANS, WORK PERFECTLY THE ANTI FREEZE- PLENTY OF.( WAS FLUSHED 6 MONTHS AGO WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR) THE THERMOSTAT IS WORKING, BECAUSE AT HIGH SPEEDS IT DROPS BELOW/ABOUT 195 THE OIL TEMP DOESNT GO PAST THE FIRST BAR.. NO ANTI-FREEZE/LEAKS ON MY DRIVEWAY ANY HELP WITH THIS GUYS AS TO WHY THIS IS HAPPENING?? I AM BRINGING THIS TO MY MECHANIC THIS MORNING....THANKS IN ADVANCE...BRUCE |
