according to the duracool faq, they have no private labelling relationships. so this envirosafe stuff is almost certainly not duracool. nobody here said it was, but that conclusion could have been drawn from lawrence's post so i wanted to clarify. doody. |

How does it cool in respect to R12? I have 134a in my 89' Volvo and it just doesn't cool as well as R12 did. |

I've used Duracool (propane based) in my MB for 7 years and in my Porsche for 4 years. Yes, it is flammable but you only use about 60% as much by weight. Furthermore, if the lines in your dash are suffering a loss of integrity due to a crash, you've got big problems anyway. The propane based refrigerants have a higher enthalpy change when the phase changes from liquid to gas than either R134 or R12 has. It is a superior refrigerant in that respect. Your system also runs at lower pressure, and the molecule is larger. Thus leakage is reduced. The site is www.duracool.com. It is manufactured in Canada.

Most of the replacement Refrigerants that are out there contain propane. Do you want propane under pressure under your dash? |
