Tim, how are you, everything ok ?
How is everything going with the track ? And did you already received the RM1's ??? How are they driving ? Must be great right ?
And how about the Enzo ?

Just being a bit curious, haven't seen you around here for some time now, so I was kinda wondering :-).
Would love to know what you think of the RM1's, I'm selling my indoor-kart and I'm trying to get some more RM1 info.

Tim & Rob:

They are in a class of their own. However, they are about as fast as the 125 Honda Shifter Cars, and could run against them. The advantage these have is the electric starter: makes the entire event much easier.

Do you know if they qualify for typical classes at my local kart track or like the national karting organizations run?

Might have to pick me up one of those, although I could get 2 SRX7's or 1 SM for the same cost.

Thanks for that link, Bart.
That kart looks awesome... and the race series in Europe looks awesome, too.

Anyone know how fast it is? Top speed? 0-60mph? 0-100mph? Braking distances? The website was devoid of performance specs.

I have identified an electric that can do 0-60 in less than 4s; top speed over 100mph. I am still trying to get more details on it.

Brian, If I may inform you, the karts with paddle shifters Tim talked about are RM1, the new generation Rotax Max karts.
You can find info about them on this website : http://www.rm1-kart.com/
I have no info on the sound etc. but Tim has I guess.

About the kart track being 18' wide, I think that's reasonable.
I helped constructing a indoor kart track which was 17' (1' = 30cm right ?) and that's wide enough for an indoor track. The average width of all the outdoor tracks I've been would be around 20'-21'. But those are tracks were E.C. and W.C. were held. For your own use 18' should be fine enough IMHO.

Tim,

I am looking to build a similar kart track in my backyard. How many acres of the 40 does your track consume? I was thinking 18' wide would be plenty... thoughts? Would you be willing to share some construction details?

And you mention some karts with paddle shifters? Can you point me to info on those? My issue is going to be noise... I need some reasonably quiet karts... but I want plenty of power... any advice from your research?

Thanks!

P.S. No, no Enzo for me! ;^)

Woow Tim, that would be great.

I've always wanted to go back to the USA on a holiday, since the day we got back from there.
Now I know that I at least need to visit Scottsdale once more :-).
But then again, I also want to visit Vegas, San Fransico, San Diego, La Jola (don't know if that's a city, but it's beautifull over there) and lot's of other places :-)

First I need to get my degree, make some money and then it's time to make plans I guess.

Thanks for the invite none the less, would love to say hi to Arie in person.
Do you mind telling Arie a dutch fan of him said hallo ?

How did it went with the Enzo ?

Congratulations, Tim. That is truly amazing. Your own private track and proving grounds...hehe. I might be bringing my 348 out to Arizona to visit a friend in Jan... mind if I swing by and check out the track? :-) hehe... plus, I'd love to hear more about the hunt for the Enzo!

Hi Bart:

I forget what the make of the chassis is on the older karts but they have new rotax engines.

yes I have met Arie. he comes to the track some times. his twin boys are in my sons class at school.

and believe it or not, I was building a house a couple years ago in a country club down the street from me, about half way through the project I decided the people in the country club where to snooty for me so I sold the house. guess who bought it? yes, Arie. if your ever in town let me know and I will see if I can set up a time for coffee with him. we have many many many VERY big name racers come to the track all the time. its a blast.

Still drooling on this side of the screen :-)
What kind of "old shifters" do you have ?
To bad you need to silence the karts, I just love the sound of a Rotax when the power valve kicks in.

btw, I noticed you live in Scotsdale, and I once heared Arie Luyendijk lives their aswell, have you ever met him ? Just wondered because you mentioned you bought the land from an racer. I'm not fishing for who that racer is, just wondering if you met him since I've been in scotsdale once with my parents and we drove around like 2 hours to see if we might get to see his house orso. Just because he's a famous dutch racer :-)

Sorry if all the questions bother you, there's no need to awnser it though. I'm just smiling by reading about your "project".

sick speed: I will tell her hello for you. its not looking good at this point for the Enzo. I just missed one by 12 hours. have one more lead at this point and will know monday, if it doesnt come through then its probably over. oh well.

the entire place is just for pleasure, no work here. it took a long time and almost an act of God to get the city to approve the track to be built. they said absolutely no cars on it. oh sure, no problem. gotta just settle for the kart track but it would be nice to be able to have it large enough for cars.

I even have to modify the karts so they run quiter. we put carbon fiber housings over the pipe and intake to quiet them down. the new rotax motors are fine right out of the box.

I have the new RM1 cart on order and am building a new Trulli shifter. we also have one Trulli Rotax and two Tony Kart Rotax. also a couple old shifters but am in the process of deciding wheather to update them or just get new ones.

went to the track on Sunday. we had 12 karts out there today. a couple racers that run F3000 and grand am stuff. Christian Fitipaldi was going to come but had to leave town.

there is another guy that is building a house on this 40 acre parcel and I bought my part from him. he is a racer but I wont mention his name to respect his privacy. he's not that well known or anything be we just respect each others privacy. we will be the only two that live there. the track was purpose built just for Karts, always has and always will be private. he did put his diablo on the track and got it up to 97 mph down the straight. not a very long straight as you can see but perfect for karts.

Tim: Sounds unbelievably nice, make sure to post some pics when the place is finished. And something else...
You're thinking of getting an Enzo... I'd say if you've got the means, pick one up immediately. You just can't go wrong, and even if you wouldn't like the car (not very likely) you can problably sell it for more then what you've bought it next year.

Tim, that's awesome.
Your own karting track, what a dream,.
And a beauty track aswell.

Those RM1's are super karts, 2-shifter, with a reverse. Just so cool.
A friend of mine is riding in the Rotax Max challenge over here.
Only needing some sponsors to reach the top (hint, hint :-)), but he's also looking to buy one.
Could you please post your findings on the RM1 ?
And what Trulli are you getting ? Trulli's are all 100cc right ??

Good luck on getting the Enzo, please keep us informed.

About the track, had the track been used alot ? Was it used by a karting club or something ? or was it from a private owner before ? Sorry for the question fire, just a bit curious.

And Jerry, I agree with you, Poverty sucks big time :-)

i vote this to be post of the month, just 'cause Tim's got so many awesome toys and alot of them are mentioned here...!

Tim, are you hiring anyone...? To live there and work there...? i'm exceptional in an office setting, but even MORE exceptional when it comes to chauferring people around in exotic sports cars... let me know, i'll throw together a resume- when it comes to fast cars, i have no problem just dropping everything and moving two thousand miles away...

Tim, again, congratulations on, like- just being the man, all around...

...oh, and you never answered my other question: When she arrives, will you tell her i said hello...?

While you're at it, why not enlarge the track for serious car use? I've always wanted to visit Bardinon's place in France, partly because he has his own track, and can do pretty much what he wants with it, when he wants. I would suspect that if it were well designed, and perhaps emulated some of the famous aspects of known tracks elsewhere, you could become a pretty awesome driver if you spent enough time on it. BTW, is this entirely as pleasure spot or is it business as well?

wow, came back in and didnt think my other post took. sorry for the double post.

Hey Jimpo1: its about 12 minutes north of me. plenty of room for the buggy but its too nice to run in the desert. we are going to start building a motorcross and quad track very soon in the wash area next to the track.

I am currently searching for a used pro trophy truck or unlimited buggy so I can drive that there. there is also state land access accross the street from me that I can ride for miles in the desert car, bikes, quads, etc.

SickSpeed: yes a real Enzo. If I am succesful we will have a private unveiling for the AZ-FCA.

the track is large enough for a car and I have had my viper on it but the corners are very tight, kinda have to slide through them gently with a little throttle steer.

this is an old picture. Construction is well underway on the club house. it is 22,000 square feet. it has two bowling alleys, gym, sun tan room, pottery room for the wife, indoor shooting range, theater, office, 3 guest suites, 2 car garage for guest suites, 3 elevators, parking for two semi's and trailers, helipad with indoor parking for the helicopter, kitchen for the entertaining area for over 200 people. seperate shop for Karts with its own storage room, seperate shop for motorcycles/quads with its own storage room, seperate shop for cars with its own storage room and of course plenty of parking for cars. office, conference room, etc. should be cool when its done.

we hope to start building the house early next year. the reason we started the club house first is because the house will be smaller and you cant have a "guest house" or other structure, that is larger than your main house. so for now, its called the main house with guest house to follow.

more pics as the project advances. I have an aireal with the club house that I ordered but dont have a scanner big enough to take it. hopefully will find one soon and then post a pic of that. someone told me Kinkos has one. then I need to make sure its 640x480 so I can post it.

one day we will have an F-chat party there.

On the note of a full sized car track, in the "355 vs TR" thread Jon posted a pic of Fiorano, how cool would it be to have that in your backyard. Even if it wasn't at your normal house (in NJ it would be pretty much impossible) but at like a summer/winter house, that would be awesome. If I'm ever really rich I think I know what's first on my list of to dos. Obviously if you don't want to live in the middle of nowhere you couldn't do it, a go kart track though you might be able to get away with like Tim. Very cool.

SickSpeed: yes a real Enzo. I am planning an Phoenix FCA unveiling if I can precure one.

yes the track is wide enough for a car but the turns are very very tight for a car. had the 360 Challenge and the Viper on it and it works great if you slide through the corners a little but its really too tight and short for cars but perfect for side by side Kart racing. it was very very difficult to get this through the city so we have to be carefull what we put on the track. in fact, the city called today because they had a complaint that we had an F1 car on the track. I said I wish.

I hope to start construction of the house at the begging of the year.

this is an old picture. we are already half way through construction of a 22,000 square foot club house which has two bowling alleys, indoor shooting range, pottery room (for the wife), gym, sun tan room, theater, kitchen, 3 guest suites, parking for two semi' and trailers, and cars of course, 3 elevators, helipad with inside storage area, Kart work room and seperate storage room, car work room with seperate storage room, motorcycle/quad work room with seperate storage, office, two car garage for guest suites, 160' pool that connects to the main house, etc.

should be cool when its all done. more pics as it comes along.

Well I purchased another property and am going to build on it next year. the cool thing is the property has a .6 mile Kart track. it is paved, 25 feet wide with raised concrete curbing. it also has an oval incorporated for oval racing.

picking up a couple new Truli Karts this afternoon and have a couple of the RM1 karts on order. they have paddle shifters, too cool.

also thinking of getting an Enzo. I'll let you know how it goes.
