Problem with the ealier Miura's is that the engine and trans had the same lubrication system. In other words, the oil in the car was used for the trans and the engine. When you broke a tooth in the trans it was feed to the engine. It was then time for a $35K engine rebuild.

Jordan:Symbolic had a one-off roadster version of the Muira. Dunno if they still have it, or whether its in their La jolla showroom. check their site and call 'em. They are in Beverly Hills.PS i quickly checked their site and its gone. Heritage Classics, also in Beverly Hills, lists a Muira S, though.

There is a guy with a web site that documents the ongoing restoration of his Miura. Just do a search of "Lamborghini Miura" on Altavista and you should be able to find it. (in case you already haven't).

I have a good friend who ones one, and I have driven it. He posts on Ferrarichat from time to time, called muiraguy. His is a '67 model, is red with tan and in perfect condition fully restored.

It doesnt handle like you would think. The suspension is too soft and steering is a bit wooden. But it makes fantastic sounds and has tons of power, very fast and great acceleration. And of coarse it looks incredible.

The SV's are of coarse the best, but excellent earlier examples can be purchased for around $80K. Cheap for what you get IMHO !

The Miura is the best Lambo ever! Back when they didnt need swing up doors, spoilers and 1,000 scoops to sell cars. I would love to own one someday.

My brother bought a privately owned Fiero, once... got all the paperwork figured out with the owner, paid him, and hopped in his new car... Driving on the highway, on his way home, he smells smoke and said his neck "got really hot all of a sudden"...
He looked in the rearview mirror and the whole back of the car was engulfed in flames... now THAT'S a pyromaniac car... apparently, Fiero's have a history of that sorta thing...

Ok, i'm off topic, sorry...

Glad you guys have good things to say about it :-) I was ready to get my hopes crashed with bad stories of experience!

I agree though, I think it is Bertone's best design...

The one to go for is the Miura SV and it goes for 200/250 000 $ for a mint one ..

Its a very beautiful car , esp the SV with the wider rear arches .

Jordan, I love the Miura. In person it is even more breathtaking! It is definately one of Bertone's best designs. There is a yellow one here in Toronto. I would think one would go for upwards of $100K

I have a strange love for this car...much like my strange love for the 90hp Porsche 914 model POS *my first car :-) I love it :-)*

Anyone here ever own one or have any stories to share about it? Of course a Ferrari is my first choice, but if i make it wealthy enough I might pick up a Muira and a Countach! I just picked up the 1:18 scale Anson model of the Muira and it looks sweet! Too bad I can't play with it until Christmas!

About how much do these cars go for in todays market? Do they drive well?

Muira
