Hi Randy, This is indeed a workgroup. I did as you say for XP, but what about the systems running 98? I have a firewall with the base station, but windows auotmatically disables a firewall when networking saying other comnputers won't be able to share access if it is up. I am a bit confused about them not allowing a firewall, unless the base station wall is still active. And, I am still having trouble setting up the software network on the 98 systems. |

XP - right click "My Network Places", properties, right click on the adapter/NIC, go to properties. Advanced tab. You'll see sharing there. Once you do that, you can share folders by right clicking on them and going to sharing. This is just a work group configuration, right? Not a domain server anywhere on the network that people login to? Just making sure. And make sure you have a firewall of some sort, any kind of router, even inexpensive linksys routers will work sufficiently for a small network. |
