I use a program (freeware) call Pop-Up Stopper and have been quite happy with it as well. Plus you can't beat that it's free :-)

Yeah I don't think IE lets you disable Java... ah well. I use Panicware's Pop-up Stopper with good results. http://www.panicware.com/product_downloads.html there's a free version in there... works well, and lets you know when a pop up window is being blocked. Ends up blocking some windows you DO want opened up, but you can work around that too.. great program.

Bruno,

You might want to check if your PC has been infected with spyware. This is a software that gets installed in your PC while you are surfing the web (without your knowledge). It monitors your surfing habits & sends the info to a server. For example, if you have Gator in your PC, then you are being spied.

Try Ad-aware software (they have a freeware version). It will tell you if you are infected & let you clean it.

Good luck.

For IE.

Tools, internet options, advanced, Microsoft VM uncheck enable java.

It does not hurt a thing. Just keeps the pop ups from popping up.

These instructions are for netscape 6.0 and IE 6.0

If anyone can put a step by step instruction on how to stop the pop ups, that would be a great idea. I just got a program which disables the cookies which people like double clip put into our computers, and it tells them where we've been, and they sell that info to the people who put up popups on our screen.
