I donated an 84 Ford 4x4 truck to the Salvation Army. They had the entire tax paperwork process down pat - even my accountant was impressed. |

I have an old clunker AUDI 4000 at the shop that I'm ready to donate for EMT/HFD training. |

Gave two cars to Agape Villages last year. Good tax break but an appraisal is a necessary hedge if audited. The cars I donated were only a couple thousand each so I pulled up Kelly Blue Book and printed off the values for my accountant. As are most charitable donations, I see it a redirecting my tax money. I like that! |

I donated a car to Make-A-Wish. They came to my home and towed it! I believe if the car is $5000 or greater an appraisal is required for tax purposes. |

If the car is worth more than a couple of thousand you might want to get an appraisel. Quite a few of the donations places will do this for you. |

My Grandfather recently donated his Mercedes when he gave up driving. He actually gave it to a Thrift-shop. He also donated a 48' boat many years ago (it partially sank so he got an insurance check to fix it. instead he donated it and bought something else) Get a reciept (Make sure where you are donating it is a Tax Deductible place, Not For Profit). Get a copy of the donation and signed title. You should also try to get a printout of the value of the car from NADA.com (they always have high prices) or another place so you can justify the writeoff. |

if so which one. I hear all these ads on the radio for them but not sure which one to use. BTW, I am not donating the f-car - just considering getting rid of an old cluncker with 170k miles and a shot alt. |
