William, thanks... my uncle is heavy into space stuff, so i'll ask him if he has those books... (if he does, i won't even have to read them- he'll be able to quote the entire book!) As for you, if you can stand my commentary so far with regards to the government and outer space, check out a book called Behold A Pale Horse, by William Cooper... (if you can't find it, as they are somewhat hard to find, let me know, i have an extra copy i could send you...) | ||

DES you will like a book by Dr Jaque Valle called RETURN TO MAGONIA or something along those lines. Valle is an ex NASA physicist who studied UFO sightings and ancient tales of fairies & elves and found they overlapped perfectly. He believes that ETs & Fairies are 1 and the same and that they are Terrans but they are INTERDIMENSIONAL travelers instead of ETs as we believe!!!! Pretty cool stuff Also I would highly suggest you pick up a copy of Dr John Lewis' MINING THE SKY which will give you a very good basis for discussing space exploration  | ||

William, i totally agree with you- and the cultural planet idea almost seems appealing, but then i know the corporate capitalist nazi fascist government pigs would somehow get their greedy, greasy paws on things and figure out how to be just as eerily controlling and brainwashing as they are now, and water things down to fit their pockets... Also, if PLANETARY DEDUCTIONS start showing up on my paycheck, right under FICA, Federal, State, etc, i think i just might explode...! Also, the planetary idea is just another formk of segregation and i could never support that- now if the people from planet A were allowed to travel to planet B, freely and vice versa, then that wouldn't be a problem- of course, we can even have that here on earth, so wtf would be the point of it...? i guess, then, we'd be going back to the whole resource thing... blah, blah, blah, let's face it, we're screwed...! (Hey, William- on a sort-of-related note, scientists recently theorized that our DNA is so advanced, they're speculating as how it evolved in ONLY 4.5 hundred billion years or so- coupling that with another theory, derived from a conspiratorial book i read stating that our DNA could have been fabricated by other intelligent life and cast out of the middle of the galaxy to thrive on the more calm, outer part of the galaxy, makes for some extremely interesting conversation and also leads me to believe that their ARE other intelligent forms of life out there, using technology far more advanced than ours...! ) | ||

DES, I also believe there is intelligent life in space but I dont think there is any other technology building intelligence in this solar system so I think we can exploit Our solar systems resources at will. As for the facist govt exploiting space, the Bush admn seems very Anti space exploration as they severely chopped NASA's budget. private $ has to create a profit to really begin the Gold rush in space. As for not pushing our beliefs on others I heartily agree with you. In Peter Hamilton's awesome space series begining with the REALITY DYSFUNTCION he has the human species colonizing many different planets but each planet got a specific culture that put the $ forwards so one planet was sponsored by California LOL another was a Muslim planet, then a Jewish one, etc. Seems a lot safer for all us humans if some cultures had their own planets so we wouldnt have to go to war all the damm time | ||

The part that bothers me is that the boob never thinks of better solutions and most of the time is against them. He is all against Nuclear power so what other suggestion does he have. Coal burning power plants are much worse than fast cars. There is a bigger picture here. | ||

William, i'm not sure i agree... Sure, resources are aplenty and will be abundant after you've gone and maybe even after i'm gone, but there IS a limit... exploiting space is something i disagree with... It is unmercifully stupid of us to think that we're the only intelligent life in the galaxy and if we start infringing on someone else's space (no pun intended), they could cause a problem... i won't gratuitously regurgitate my beliefs on other intelligent life forms on your thread, but just consider how pissed you'd be if someone just started commandeering your back yard to obtain some form of resource(s)... Resources here on earth are limited and will soon be at an endangered level (some already are), which is exactly why the fascist government is probing space... just my $0.02 | ||

Ocassionally I hear some booob talking about why we have to drive slow cars & reduce speed limits & consevre precious resources. Some resources are worth preserving like forests and the Seas and biological diversity but other resources like minerals and energy are so plentiful that to say we have to conserve them is ludicrous & downright Luddite. The reason is that we essentially have enough mineral & energy wealth to easily outlast the human species, its just a matter of developing a serious space progarm to exploit the unimaginable wealth of resources hanging above our heads. So next time somebody tells you you have to conserve energy or drive a stupid slow car tell him why he is wrong |
