Nope, tried the proxy servers, they are all blocked too...I think the OSHA complaint is the best bet. I love this company, they get all flustered about us spending a few minutes going to personal web sites, yet I spent 2 hours on my day off yesterday in at work, as well as having to had work on my last 4 vacation days. Oh well...there is a way around this, I just have to be tricky enough... Tim, sorry about the trimester thing--I always hated that (my school had that too). It seemed like I was never in sync with any other college, and the classes just drug on and on...Just keep chanting to yourself "I am putting up with this to get a Ferrari." | ||

Because the filter doesn't pick up shitload, 'cause it's written as one word... Rob has to enter all the words manually... when he sees this, though, you can guarantee that shitload will show up with eight red asterisks... | ||

You could just write a quick script to ping Ferrarichat over and over until you filled their logs and bring down the companies connectivity. Oh wait that has been done already. One of our guys did that when they filter out hotmail. Of course he did get fired over it ;) Oh yah just before IT listened to all the managers and opened up hotmail again.. Rodney | ||

Unfortunately, it looks like they are blocking shorturl.com also...I just tried registering a site, and it gets blocked. Thanks for the suggestion. Tim, shouldn't you be STUDYING right now?  I appreciate your suggestion, to work during work, but being a dba, I spend a shitload of time with nothing to do while databases load during the day. | ||

Chris, i have your solution... (holy cow, i'm actually able to help someone...!) Go here: www.shorturl.com The instructions are pretty easy... rename FerrariChat.com something businessy like "strictlybusiness.mirrorz.com" or something... it won't mess with this site at all, it'll just be a redirect for you... This is a tool that was created for people who have free websites but can't customize the names of their free websites, so they come up with a catchy redirect and then go from there... i hope this helps... | ||

So, Ferrarichat.com has been banned by our webfiltering softwaren at my office. I have finally been able to get back on and get my fix. It appears that the filtering software is filtering on words, as well as some predifined IP's (it picked up the "chat" in Ferrarichat, and marked it as a chat group, but I can still go to other car boards). However it also marked the Ferrarichat.com IP as "bad." So... Could I register something innocent, like www.sqlserverupdates.com, and have that address point to the content on the Ferrarichat server? would that mask the Ferrarichat name and IP? Then, those of us blocked at work could get our prancing pony fixes during the day. |
