On the radio, they said Tuna was short for Charlie the Tuna, from the old TV commercials. They didn't bother to follow up with why he was nicknamed after Charlie the Tuna.

at some point some players played a pratical joke on him - he did not fall for it and said who do you think I am charlie the tuna (starkist). it took off from there. Actually this was the first question asked of him in the press conference yesterday

Right Tom.... the Cowboys had their training camp in Thousand Oaks (CA) throughout the Landry years. In the last 10 years, training camp was moved to Texas... Austin, then Wichita Falls and last year, San Antonio.

Training in the Texas summer heat is absurd... I hope they keep it inside.

Tonight's Fiesta Bowl: Miami by 17.

Parcells had something to build on when he took over the Giants, Bills and Jets. There's virtually nothing to build on in Dallas right now. The Cowboys have no QB and Emmit is history. He's got his work cut out.

He mentioned last night in the press conference that he, "was an employee of the Dallas Cowboys". I agree, the clash of egos (Jerry Jones) is going to be very interesting. On the other hand, Jones admitted last night that he has "made mistakes". I will say, Jones is 100% determined and committed to win... and win it all.

Texas heat: Parcells is somewhat used to it. He was the Defense Coordinator at Texas Tech for a couple of years in the mid 70s.

Finally, this may be his destiny... his daughter's name is Dallas.

Being a Giants fan, I hope not. Also have lost a lot of respect for Parcells over the last few years, too many 180s. He also had great coaches working with him in the past. I can't imagine he and Jones getting both their egos into Texas stadium.

GO GIANTS!!!

Actually Phil simms was pretty highly touted coming out of college but his college was moorehead state. Chris is at Texas but has never lived up to the hype he had coming out of high school - he has had several big games where he played terrible. Even their recent bowl win he was avg. Certainly someone will go for him if he drops in the draft - I just have heard he does not seem to have that big game mentality. Time will tell - if I knew what I was talking about I would prob have a few more ferraris :-)

I give them a year, there is no way those personalities can exist together for long. I will be fun to watch. I am pretty sure emmitt is gone - bill will be the hatchet man for jerry on that

I know most of you guys are big football fans and love the Cowboys. :-)

Can Bill Parcells turn things around in Dallas?
