Adapter: I can't remember but Radio Shack (I call them Radio "Crap" ) sells them. Usually under $10. Power receptacle: I know about those BMW plugs, I've got the website bookmarked and will get one soon (when I start THAT project...). |

Peter: Where did you get the CD/cassette adapter? As for power, have you got one of those BMW motorcycle plug adapters? I'm using one for my cell phone. Works great. |

Hans, so on the FList CD, its mostly cLyDe just ranting about the FML API? Must be the two volume disc set... Yes, the adapter is just a fake-cassette with a wire and jack that plugs into a discman. Now that plays well. But running off of the batteries doesn't last long. I gotta fix my accessory plug... |

But remember, Peter, the unit was repaired in 1986. The service records indicate a sublet repair of the Blaupunkt for "tape not working." I have no idea as to the repairs performed. |

Peter, And you fix cassette decks too! Then it must be positioning. I've only used the deck once, with the engine off. I also prefer listening to induction sounds. Otherwise, I use the radio. I'll try the tape deck with the car in motion and let you know what happens. It's hard for me to tell from your pictures, but I think we have the same unit. Two knobs and no channel select buttons. My problem was someone dropped a quarter in the tape slot and it jammed the head!
I fixed it and it worked perfectly on the bench. It also works when the car isn't moving, but when driving, its wobbly. Any tapedeck does that, it just seems worse in the GT4... FWIW, this is the radio I have:

Peter, We probably have the same deck. The tape player works well. The service records indicate it was repaired in 1986 for similar problems you're experiencing with the drive. Yours, mounted the way it is, is probably prone to collecting a lot of dust which works its way down into the unit. I wouldn't be surprised if a good internal cleaning solves the problem. Barry |

Barry, do you play tapes in yours? How does it sound? Yours is mounted conventionally, but I wonder if my upright position is what's affecting it (and I'm thinking it shouldn't/wouldn't, as its said that all tapes [video, audio, etc...] should be stored vertically to prevent the sides of the tape itself from being damaged). This will probably be a moot-point anyways when I get my accessory plug fixed, so I can run my discman & adapter to play through the tapedeck (and won't ever have the problem of wobbly-sounding tapes)... |

Hi Bart, yeah "What It's Like" NEVER gets old...no matter how many times I listen to it. Jordan, yeah we're brothers. And we share two main passions; Ferrari and good music. He appreciates my Korn, Eminem, and Metallica CD's just as much as I enjoy Tchaikovsky, Perlman, and Scheherezade. Plus, having a partner in crime comes in handy when discovering new ways to fuel our interests (see the test drive thread somewhere in off-topic). |

Jordan, Yeah, we're brothers. And believe it or not, our music collections are interchangable between us. We just rocked out Everlast and Eminem last weekend. But if there's one thing we have in common, it's that we both want (need?) a Ferrari. |

I slammed the 8 track of Tangerine Dream's Sorcerer soundtrack into the Lear Jet stereo; accessed track 4, cranked up the external reverb box, and reached for the dash and cranked the ignition. No luck. The generator was fried and the battery was low on water.

Des, the GT4 has a Blaupunkt tape deck. It plays radio stations okay, but a tape tracks terribly in it, so I don't bother altogether. I'd rather listen to the engine (although that too gets too much, especially on the drive down to Seattle. Anything longer than that drive and I'll need earplugs...). No such thing as cruisin' in silence in the GT4. My daily driver just has an AM/FM radio in it. I set it to the local rock stations, but even then I don't listen to it much. I don't know, I find I don't HAVE to listen to the radio, I can live without it. |

Hey, Peter, lemme ask you a question... Since neither of your cars have cd players, do you ever pop a tape into the tape deck or turn on the radio... my cd player is worth more than the car it sits in, but i absolutely HAVE to have music, i couldn't live without it... Just wondering if you're jammin' while you're drivin' or if you cruise in silence... |

The pit was real cool, even some girls were there in the beginning and afterwards we went to see Muse to relax and enjoy the amazing gitar play. Can't wait until june, to go to Rock Werchter to see Metallica and R.E.M. + a dosen other bands.

Guns N Roses really isn't my thing, but i know how it feels to have a burned cd, complete with all your favorite hard stuff, all crammed into one disc... my whole life, i was always into rap (except when i was a little kid, i was a big Beatles fan- don't ask!), but then my best friend introduced me to System and i was hooked... Now i'm bangin' my head in the car, listening to Non-Point, Apex Theory, Staind, Incubus, 3Doors Down, Saliva, Linkin Park and of course, System... i've never been to a show, dude, it must be wild... Next time, just get up on stage, grab his drum stick and run... you may not make it out of there with the drum stick (or with your body in tact) but it'll be an awesome story...! |

Jordan, no one's laughing, and if anyone were, they'd be an ass... Classical music rocks, i have a few burnt cds with come classical on them... they're in the cd case, right in between my Eminem cds and my Michael Jackson cds... Right now, though, the cd player in my car holds within it, an incredible album of music and lyrics, stirring the purest, most basest human being inside me: System Of A Down, Toxicity... (just took 'Steal This Album' out of the cd player yesterday, too, to get a taste of the last album)... System rocks like no other band and i suggest everyone pick up a copy of all three of their albums... (P.S. John, awesome question...) |
