Jerry, the ones that crack me up are the people who were seriously pondering the question and responded with stuff like, "I just consider it a courtesy rather than a formality," etc. (No offense, Marq!) |

Just out to get a chuckle or two. This is not something that I am actually pondering in my head. I was just trying to think of the most trivial thing that I could ask to make people say, "what the **** is this dude on?!" I guess that's why I was the class clown of 1984. If I get one person to laugh or smile, I've done my job. Bruce & Wayne, your responses cracked ME up! |

There's "Off Topic" and then there's "No Topic." You're right, Jerry, one would be hard pressed to "out trivialize" you. |

You know, I don't normally even read threads like this, much less respond to them, but I just happened to look at this one and I gotta say, "WHAT THE ...?!!?" |

As long as you say Hi when you get back home, it's ok to say goodbye again. |

I dispense with the second goodbye... how much formality do you need with your own family? Ernesto |

I've done that before many times, so I say: "Ooops, forgot something!.... Goodbye again!" |

Not to ever be "out trivialized", I am going to lay a scenario on you. If one leaves the house and says all obligatory goodbyes (wife, kids, etc.) and then goes out the door and starts driving away, but then realize that you forgot something so you go back (say 2 minutes later). Does one say goodbye again, or would this be redundant....or would it be rude not to say it a 2nd time? I did this yesterday and said it a 2nd time and my wife gave a strange look like I was forgetting that I just said it. Please give me opinions on my mind boggling quandary. Thanks, Jerry. |
