Omar, Also, 1st was considered a "starting gear", so you were only engaging it from a stop. Putting the car in 2nd first would align the gearset. Tony |

Interesting, so did one shift into first without grinding...put it in 2nd first then first? Start the car in 1st with the clutch down? |

Omar, On synchros. The early Series 1 had synchros on Second, Third and Forth, no synchro on First Gear. I know the 1965 vintage does have a full synchro gearbox and I don't think it was introduced until 1965. Good Luck, Tony |

XK-E and E-type are the same car,XK-SS is very rare, they built so few because right in the middle of production the factory at Browns Lane was destroyed in a fire. |

XKSS was a street version of the venerable D-type. This is extremely rare (built something like a dozen)and worth over a million$. The XJS was a 2 door version of the common XJ6 passenger car and was never really a sports car like the XKE. Really a "touring" car. The XKE was baulky like a 308 but not as precise. The old Moss boxes were a bit sloppy. |

jag was famous for their 6 and 12 cylinders back in the day. Only today since they have been 'Forded' has the venerable (and notoriously unreliable) jag 12 gone out of production. As far as 12 cly jags....the base sedan XJ had 12s for an option until 95 (96?) when 12 produtction stoped. Infact the last year/2 years the XJ12 was the same body style as the current XJ8. the 12s made it into the sports cars as well... the E type got a 12 in its 3rd series. more or less seirs 1 has covered headlights and is the prettiest (like teh pis below) series 2 got exposed lights and different crome lining with a bigger engine(which started use 1/2 into the sereis one run)....sereis 3 got a 12, but was a 70s car and had to have fugly black bumpers that made the car look bad...it really killed its lines. E types were succeeded by the XKS...a pretty car too, though ony available in a 3 speed auto (3!!) that made acceleration shitty to say the least...custom 5 spds really make it a performer, but the stock is ssslllllooowww since it needs wide gears to keep its reletively high top speed. XKSs are cheap on the used market too. In its last years they got 6 cylinders (but y 6 when you can have 12???) the XKS i think is the remake of the e type...more or less, see pis of them next to each other....but unlike the sleek E, these cars are FAT..really tubby. they only came in ford 8 cylinders I beleive (na, newer boored out na, and supercharged) I think I am right..might be off though. |

Not sure where else to mention it, so i figured i'd pick this thread- not tryin' to 'jack you, Omar, sorry... i saw an older model Jag on my lunch break, think it read XJK on the back (i'm probably wrong, though, so someone correct me)... It also said V12... i had no idea they put V12 engines in these cars- especially the older ones... How fast are they...? |

i thought they were two different cars, completely... Isn't an XKE Roadster a different car than an E Type...? |

Red interior->Black interior ? These places often use similar "file photo's" that don't represent the actual car offered. Although I like early E's, they drive like a truck below 40mph, but are nice at 80. I think they do have synco's but still have a notchy throw. No interior room in these, but don't they look good? |
